Would love to have more power as a leader/archon

I right now have a fief being a town and I would have loved to be able to gain things from being the leader of it.

Right now it feels like the people in the game view me as this guy which happens to be in charge of this town to which we're traveling.
It would be really nice if holding power like having fiefs and armies would affect and even create more opportunities.
