Worthy companions to make into Lords?

As my first couple of forum searches turned up squat, or rather, a bunch of unrelated squat, I figured I'd make a new thread. So apologize in advance if this has been asked and answered.

Without further ado,
Just for kicks the other day I started a new game and immediately had myself crowned king. This was mostly caused by curiosity on my part. Now to the issue at hand, I started naming all my companions into Lords (due to a severe lack of interest on all the other Lords) and I'm fairly impatient when I just want to 'try out' something. Anyways, my question at long last is this:

I gave a small village to (Lady) Matheld. I gave a Castle to (Lord) Lezalit, then I tossed a couple more castles at Nizar and Katrin. All the other Lords I ran into then complained I had given castles to 'mere commoners' and messed with the noble institution and whatnot. Hold on, question is coming. Okay so my question is this, since Katrin and Nizar caused complaints and no one mentioned Matheld and Lezalit, I theorized that certain companions are ideal 'vassals' while others are not so much. Does anyone know for certain which ones are 'acceptable' Lords and which ones are not?

I would guess Matheld, Lezalit, Alayen and (maybe) Rolf would be 'acceptable' and pretty much everyone else would not be, but if anyone has some definite answer on this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for your time and I'm sorry for the complicated representation of my question.

PS: As an unrelated side-note, is there any way to activate melee FF for single player?

Alayen and Matheld are nobles. Alayen is an exile from a Vaegir house, and Matheld is daughter of a thane (lord). Are you sure they weren't also complaining about Lezalit? He's just a soldier, far as I recall.

do you know if their leadership skill affects their party size? or do they function like the rest of the lords with the AI trainer?

I did just what you did (i think) I gave a castle first to Lezalit then a village to Matheld, No problems here. Then I gave a village to Klethi and I got massive - from the other two claiming "Bah commoner lul"... So I married Klethi with my female queen just to shup em' up.

Edit: Yeah the point being, make a lord/lady of a "unworthy" before the nobles, because they just nag.

AFAIK Matheld, Alayen, Lezalit, Firentis, Rolf and Baheshtur count as noble for purposes of vassalage.

I have Alayen as my Companion but i dont can give him a fief. In the List by my minister his name dont appears.
But i look after i siege another castle in this list for the Name Alayen.

He's the second son of a Genoan noble house.

Oh boy... if that works then maybe the other companions should start taking tips

You don't assign vassalage with the minister. Instead talk to Alayen from the party screen and elect "Would you be interested in holding a Fief?". You then select what fief to give him and poof, off he goes to rule it.

Stupid, soooooo Stupid aahhhhhhh. I dont see the new talk option in the Companion screen. Noooo about a looooong time playd and Calradia was near to conquered i see this cool Options. I can send Alayen to help me in a Mission for me. Och nö.^^
Thanks for the tip.
@Developers
A very nice Option, what a nice Idea respect.
EDIT:
Everything knows why my Companions was Fürsten and my regular Vassals was Lord. Bevor Fürsten was Vassals they wait in my Capital for my permission make them to my Vassals. But Alayen was a Vassals after give him Praven.
