You remember Bloc? This is like that, but in SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE! It's kind of fun, and could really use some new players. At the time of this post, it will be due for at least one more reset in the next few months, so this is a good time to get a feel for the game.

Disclaimer: It's made by Heidi, who did some really questionable stuff during Bloc.

Starting out, I recommend going either Amyntas (permanent money bonus) or Cleon (lots of resources). Pick the bonus fighters as your starting item (it gives you two free refineries, worth way more than any other bonus). Max your Quality of Life high to get some stability (which will give you automatic growth gain).

You'll want to start working on getting some fuel and duranium next. (The other two metals are worthless.) Once you've got 1k GDP, start buying some shipyards whenever you can. They're a major roadblock on building a fleet. Corvettes are cheap to research too, so I recommend getting them when you hit 1k.

Once you've got some ship variety options, try and build pyramids with your ships.
For example:
40 Fighters
20 Corvettes
10 Light Cruisers
5 Destroyers

This gives all of your ships a big bonus, and the smaller ships also provide cannon fodder that protects your big ships in a fight.

A note on combat: Training is very important. At Finely Honed you get your full fleet power value, while at Ragtag you only get 30% of their value. If you're in danger of getting hit, I highly recommend that you keep a minimum training of coordinated. It's also worth noting that creating new ships will reduce training proportional to the firepower of the ships created.

Concerning research, you can only invest double your current GDP value per attempt. The progress bar is rounded down to the closest 5%, and it takes 4000 GEU to reach corvettes.

Just let me know the names of your worlds and I'll add you to the list.

As for making an alliance, I strongly recommend having a forum presence if you do so. Small alliances are raider prey unless they've got friends that will back them up. Otherwise I'd recommend joining up with Solaris Novum or the Commonwealth, both of which have good leaders. The Galactic Goon Union is a major player right now, but they're Goons so they'll probably get involved in shenanigans soon. BAMF is a good bunch of straight shooters who fight the good fight and avoid nasty tactics. Choam's a bad lot, with the exception of Starfleet and the UNSC; their making a lot of enemies with their dirty dealings, and that's eventually going to bite them.

Ech, I hate those stupid things. They always hit right after I build a hospital.

You're Cleon, so I recommend building duranium mines and fuel refineries asap. You'll need the fuel to support a fleet, and the duranium to build one (as well as to sell, since it's going for 10 GEU each right now). Don't worry about the other two minerals, as they're kind of useless right now.

I also recommend you join a federation. You're currently a bit vulnerable, and it's only a matter of time before someone steals all your growth.

I'm almost out of war protection and I've received an invite to three federations; Dictators United, Starfleet, and the Galactic Goon Union. As a trekkie, I'm inclined to join Starfleet just because of the name.

Any advice, Shatari?

If you're peaceful then go with Starfleet. They're good folks, though they're a member of Choam and have been making a hell of a lot of enemies here lately. Starfleet will catch the least of that though, since they're not jerks to the people they conquer.

If you're warlike then go with the GGU. They're a growing powerhouse that will inevitably trash anything that gets in their path.

I joined Starfleet. I was never very warlike back in Bloc, despite having like, 300 000 max tier soldiers I only ever went to war a handful of times.

Edit: Also, if anyone has some money they'd be willing to send my way I'd be much obliged. Work on my military has been going very slowly.
