okay okay okay. I have nothing to sell here. Just curious whether a world war 2 mod would possible? Now by saying world war 2 mod, I don't mean a complete change or anything, but just the fighting would change. The world map would be the same (roaming war parties, but maybe call them platoons or something) no horses or anything. Yeah maybe it might sound stupid.
But I think if it simulated world war 2 combat, with the fun little mount and blade commands, it could be very fun.
Here are some things to discuss:
1). How to make a soldier go prone/crouch? I'm guessing they would go prone whenever holding position and maybe no cover near by?
2). Guns? Well, I'm not sure, but maybe?
3). Finding cover? Well arrows cannot go through trees, or the ground. So it might be possible. Now how to make your men automatically go behind trees and put the tree between them and the enemy might be a problem.
4). Firing from cover? That also will be very hard. How do you make your men maybe lean or step out from cover and fire a few shots and hide again? Once again, it will be very hard.
5). Gernades? Have your soldiers throw gernades every so often?
6). Tanks?
7). Mortars? Could be very fun, is it possible? You tell me.
. Machine guns? Well might be tricky because you have to set it up and go prone.
9). Future mount and blade commands that the developers are working on? I think if they make it possible to split up your army into differnent groups, and control where they go then that would greatly benefit a world war 2 mod.
10). Flanking? Well sure? But it would require a command to split up your army. But if you get a group of men to an enemy's flank and they are exposed, then why not?
12). Accuracy? I think it should be a skill. And I also think soldiers should be very inaccurate, including you. Why? Cause first it's realistic. In fire fights, soldiers blast at eachother for a long time before eliminating the opposing force. It shouldn't be like SEE AN ENEMY, TAKE 2 SHOTS, KILL HIM. Unless you're really lucky. It should be, seen an enemy, take lots and lots of shots before taking him down. This would also make it more fun because then you would find yourself with your squad blasting away at the enemy and the enemy blasting away at you. And you're squad wouldn't be dying really fast, or you wouldn't be kill your enemy incredibly fast. So it would be a fun skirmish, instead of a extremely short skirmish.
13). Surpression? I think it would be hard to implement. It could be a skill. I guess accuracy would effect it.
14). Other skills? Can't think of too many. Movement speed? Range?
15). Upgrade tree? Well you could start with recruits. And then it would be able to upgrade to a bunch of classes, such as Rifleman, Submachine Gunner, Support Infantry, Mortars, maybe even tanks. And then maybe these guys would upgrade to other units such as, Snipers(They'd have to be VERY expensive, but effective. Maybe they'd be terrible at fighting with near by enemies because of their slow rate of fire, and they'd be easily surpressed), Machine Gunner, or I dunno.
16). The world map? How would it work? What do you guys think it should be?
Well those are all the things to discuss that I can think of.
*NOTE* I have no experience with modding things. I have only provided somethings to discuss. Don't come in here and start flaming me please.
I would just like to discuss it that's all. If any of you like the idea of a world war 2 mod, and want to get a mod team together, then by all means do it! I urge you. A World war 2 mod would be very hard to make, but if someone can pull it off, it would be very fun.
