World War 1 Movies?

No, it refers to the sometimes eerie quiet that occurs during trench warfare, when the artillery isn't firing and neither side is charging the trench of the other.

Passchendaele.

I have only seen a bit of it, so I cannot say how good the whole movie is, but it looked alright. It's Canadian so it's not well known elsewhere.

Lawrence of Arabia, The Trench, Gallipoli (though it has the usual Mel Gibson historical accuracyTM), Sergeant York, The Dawn Patrol, The Lost Patrol, The Fighting 69th and Deathwatch (horror movie, and rather recognisable influence on NecroVision).

Ah yes, sometimes it's easy to forget about Lawrence of Arabia as a WWI movie, since the fight in the Middle East always seems like a sideshow.

Ehh, I saw it, I was not impressed at all.

Paths of Glory is a good movie though, as someone said.  I think it's on the imdb top 250 list.

Isn't that  Eastern Front?
No, Western. It's from German p.o.v. and they're fighting mainly French troops.
Which one are you referring to...I know there's at least 2 versions of the film and I've seen one, dunno which though.

And I always took the quietness to refer specifically to the near-end of the war, when both sides were worn down, low on supplies and men, and there was less fighting. At least that is what seems to be implied form the novel/movie.
