Wont load after installing mb_edit

I got mb_edit working and I changed all the crossbows to 200 speed/dmg/velocity, and 1 gold. I loaded M&B and it worked and I got the sniper xbow and tried it out.

I didnt like the velocity, so I quit, and went back to change it, hopefully looking for a 'reset to default' button, but there was none. I decided to reinstall M&B to reset the xbow's dmg/velocity/speed to normal.

When I clicked install an error popped up (didnt happen before I installed mb_edit) and it said 'there was an error installing Mount & Blade, so I clicked "ignore" and it installed. I check mb_edit, and the xbows are reset to normal, so I load M&B to try and see if it works. I start it, but it shows the icon by the cursor loading for about 3 seconds, then goes to normal and doesnt launch.

Please help me fix this so I can load the game now. I'm not sure if me messing with mb_edit messed up the loader, but reinstalling (ignoring the error) seemed to work and set my mb_edit to default.

Since it wont load, I obviously cant play and this isnt good since I just got the mb_edit and want to try it out  I also tried getting the Magnificent Seven mod (even though it wont load), and I'm not totally sure how to install it correclty (while reading the readme), and I thought that might load it, but nope.

I didnt bother getting back up files because 1. I dont know how and 2. thought I could just reinstall if I didnt like the modded game.

Anyone got any tips how to make it so the error doesnt pop up when I install and how to get the game to load? Thanks all!

To get the game to load look under you M&B folder. If that doesn't work restart your computer.

Oh yea, to back up the files you want just copy and paste them on a "back-up" folder. I'm no computer expert so this is all the advice I can give.

EDIT: Also, try using the search function next time, and look around the stickies for known bugs .

Ok.

1. You do *Not* need to reinstall the whole game to get the default stat's of your item's back. It is much more simple. And reinstalling is a huge waste of time.

Ok here's what to do :

Download a zipper program. Eg. Winrar , Winzip , Alzip , etc , etc.

Go to C:razz:rogram FilesMount@BladeMods < Folder and right click on the "Native" folder then click "Add to zip" (note:these are instruction's mainly for winzip , and can vary for different program's)
That should create a zip file. Now keep that zip file next to your native folder, that will be a backup of the native folder.

Now open mb_edit and "edit" thing's to your preferred setting's.
Now open the game , test them. If they work fine , go back to mb_edit and do more editing , or just simply play.

If it stuff's up though. Go into the native zip file. And drag the item_kinds.txt file into the native folder. Overwrite the existing file , that will remove all change's and set it to the default setting's.

^^ that is for item's. If you modifyed the npc's stats and it stuffed up , then do the same for item_kind's , but instead overwrite troops.txt and it will work.

I have uploaded that ^ incase your native folder become's "damaged or corrupt"

Thanks for the tips. I shut off my computer for the night, and when I came back it ran, that is pretty weird.

I'll try backing it up, I'm pretty sure I got winzip or winrar.

Is there a way to edit your main character? I'm not going to do it right now because I'm only level 11 right now and still have lots of fun, but when it gets boring I will download the editor. Well if there is a way, can you tell me with a few simple lines?

That's what I'm thinking too! I'm not sure which person YOU are under the character editor, but I'm thinking maybe the first one. I would really like to set my guys skillpoints, attribute points, and level to 255 (max I think) and just have some fun, but I'm not sure which character I am in the editor to alter with =/

actually, skills max is 8. i don't know what the proficiency limit is, maybe 400? and level max is 50 unless you want to cause some seriously stange effects. i also wouldn't reccomend setting an attribute over 60. i think they can go a little higher, but i wouldn't bet on it. i don't know what charecter you're supposed to edit.
