Well those seem to be the most common in the states. And given what exactly we have to call food and entertainment I'm not surprised.

And every Mcdonald's and BK (called Hungry Jacks here, but basically the same) I've had in Europe has been absolutely awful, as well as 2-3x as expensive.
Never been to the USA though so can't comment on that.

McDonalds and Burger King are absolutely awful everywhere, don't worry.

When I go to McDonalds I expect low quality semi-edible food for low prices. Thats what I get. In that respect, McDonalds is teh win.

You're both wrong. Chain sandwich places all suck, save for D'Angelos, which is pretty much only in New England.

You can probably find a sandwich shop within ten minutes from any Subway or Quiznos, owned by some old dude and his son, that sells cheaper and better food.

I've had a subway sandwhich ones. It was a bit mushy and not very tasty. Not very bad, though, but bloody expensive. (Also, there were no vegetables to be found, so I don't really get why someone said they have no meat.)

Yeah, you do sort of make your own sandwich or order one so I don't see how that goes.
