I guess the wording of the rules is a bit strange when it comes to these transfers, but I assume that you cannot take players from the knockout teams I.E Kani from Unity. I think the admins need to clarify this. I think it could be stupid to allow this, since any of the ladder teams could stack any of the knockout stage players (the ones that lost obviously).

It prohibits the transfer of any player from a team which is in the knockouts.

(4) During the knockout stage, no transfers are allowed for the teams playing in the knockout bracket. Teams playing in the continued ladder may request up to 5 transfers per team.

The intention is that no player can be transferred from or to a team that entered the knockouts. We wanted to allow transfers from teams that dropped out of the ladder after week 7. 

Players and teams are responsible for ensuring thier roster complies with the rules. Admins updating as requested does not imply the addition or transfer is OK and if a rule breach is discovered later thatteam may be given a default loss on rounds in which the breach happened.

If you are adding a player that has previously played in teh tournament please call it a 'transfer' rather than an 'addition'.

Aeronwen explained it perfectly, to make it easier here is a basic rule of thumb: You are playing for a team in the KO (AE, Unity, GWB, FT, Aqualitas, Knights of Malta)? Nobody can leave or join your team! Transfers for all other teams are open.
