**** off, I came before you

WNL6 Rule: If the pick night ends up with two finals teams which played in the previous week, then the end pick will have to be against one of the final teams from the previous week.

E.G

IR vs AE
RNGD vs KURWA

Problem solved.

Maybe AE and KURWA are doing a best out of three. The score atm is:

KURWA: 1
AE: 1

Just the system being completly f***** up.

The problem with ladder systems is that it always are some loop hole or some teams get a quite easy road (I admit my team has had it quite easy compared to other teams with as many points, especially the first 5 matches). Never liked such system.

It's time as well, things would balance out over a longer tournament.

This isn't even a new thing, pretty sure such a rule has been around since the ENL days, no idea why it wasn't included.

A pure Swiss or Danish system (or a mix like it was used in other WB-tournaments) would probably make the whole thing more "objective" but the ladder system, and especially the pick-night, became kind of a trademark of the WNL and would be sorely missed.

The only problem I had and kinda still have with the picking-system is that the autopick works too well in the sense that it kinda forces the most rational pick for teams who can't be arsed to pick for themselves (it's not like there aren't enough alternatives to communicate your choice beside being actually present during pick night). Picks, which seem to be the most rational from a purely league table-contemplating perspective, definitely not always happen when teams actually pick themselves. That unpredictability, as rightfully limited as it still is, is imo a big part of the appeal of a ladder/the pick night.

If I remember correctly I had a short PM-correspondence regarding sanctions for missing the pick night with Lust at some point during another WNL. He didn't share my notion that putting teams missing their pick at the end of the pick list could upvalue pick night. I still think that some of the problems regarding the ladder system (or some of the things perceived as problems by some people) could be avoided by doing that (with obvious restrictions regarding picking teams beneath your level, beside some other things).

I don't remember that ever being a rule or a contemplation being discussed on the forums - but I probably just missed it or forgot about it - anyway: in my opinion it wouldn't be an appropriate solution for a ladder. If one doesn't want recurring rematches because there are only two dominating teams a change of the system (e.g. to the Swiss one) would be easier. Not that it matters in the current system since it's practically impossible for any of two dominating teams to not reach the K.O.-portion of the tournament (since it's more or less impossible that they play against each other often enough to have a significant impact on the overall ranking of the league table (which can't be excluded for other teams with the proposed rulechange although it would admittedly still be highly improbable) just imagine any scenario where either team wins two successive matches against the other one).

Of course it's **** for the affected teams to have to play against each other three times. On the other hand matches between the two best placed teams are always the most interesting ones for the watchers of the streams (no matter how often they happen - if their strengths weren't even from a general perspective they wouldn't happen that frequently anyway; the main problem with having two dominating teams still is that the other teams would be stupid to pick one of those if they have a chance to avoid that, which they have and use - as long as you aren't part of Heroes).

Pick night just adds a level of luck to the wnl. Some teams get an easy ride into the top 8 while others end up fighting multiple top teams.

I always liked the wnl 3 league system where there are many more close games. Pick night results in mostly one sided stomps, hopefully for banner Lord we can get a true league and division system going

The problem with WNL3 was dealing with the huge amount of drop-outs and at the same time trying to give the least number of default wins.
