wK Mentorship Program

Had intentions of something similar a long while ago that never came to fruition (the current/recent situation of me and mine hasn't helped this by any means).  Suffice to say, more care of this type has been needed within the community for years, though better late than never.

I commend the effort and initiative put forth.

For any legitimately newer players reading the announcement, wK are assuredly a solid bunch with extensive game knowledge proven through long-tenured and extremely high level performance (as fairly acknowledged in the OP).  Those West Knights that I have known are all quite level-headed and with their practical understanding this would make them very capable teachers of the game.  I feel confident in saying that any time spent within the proposed program will equate to notable progress in part of the applicant, though said applicants will benefit most if doing so with sincerity, patience and a willingness to listen and take criticism.

Yea, that's what I will be doing for the next few days. I'm not going to force other wK or anyone to do it, but I would appreciate it a lot if anyone could help send some people our way.


Also, since the time this thread has been up, I have been asked by some already fairly active members in the community if we offer help with guidance in leading and calling, and yes... that has actually been a thing Wily has been willing to do for... years.

I don't know why anyone has been intimidated to ask any of us for help, but just know that we are and always have been willing to help anyone for the longest of time... granted you are actually serious about it.

And it is in fact as Ghaern stated, everyone who receives help from us will benefit most by doing so with sincerity, patience, and a willingness to listen and take criticism. I think I am going to need to quote that in the OP.

The main reason for which I personally want to keep the mentors restricted to wK for now is that it is extremely easy for me to get in contact with them, and since we are a tight-knit group, it's very easy for me to communicate with them, ask favors from them, trust them, and even scold them if they are doing something wrong or not doing enough, without having to worry about them having hard feeling about it.

As of now, we barely have 2 archery mentees, 1 inf mentee, and 2 calling/leading mentees, I'm pretty sure we can handle this easily ourselves.

We don't need an overpopulation of mentors for very few mentees.

However, if someday we do manage to get a large enough population of mentees where we begin to feel it is beyond the load we can care for, I wouldn't have a problem expanding this and inviting more mentors. It's not like I don't know others in the community who would be great mentors, but I have other reasons for which to keep it restricted to wK for now. One of them being that being great at a game doesn't automatically make you the best teacher of it.
Looking at it more closely, this isn't just an opportunity for us to teach new players how to play, but also to give us a chance for us to learn how to explain things and teach others to the best of our ability. You could say this is in preparation for Bannerlord, where I will be pushing to do the same for the horde of new players that will emerge once it comes out, and hopefully by that time, every wK member will already be an experience teacher.

Call it selfish or whatever you want, but I am keeping this restricted to wK for now, no matter what kind of complaints you want to make.

And if you have any complaints, have them directed to me, not wK, as I am running this as Dictator Lagstro for now.

If you really want to be a mentor, then do the only thing that will open up that possibility, do something that will bring us such a big work load that we will need outside help, but otherwise, it will stay as it is, until I find a really really really good reason to change it.

There's never a downside to having the older players helping the newer.  We all want the same thing -- More Players, More Clans, More Competition.  As to your specific question, that's what Sota's thread is for.  Our program is designed to supplement -- not supplant -- Sota's program.  We're registered in his thread as well.

We just want to get new people in and going.

I had assumed the reason this is specifically a wK mentorship program is so that it could expand to more than simply 1 on 1 training. I believe wK has actually helped out other clans in this way before. Helping with calling, strategy, cohesion, group fighting, and other group skills is a lot easier to do as a clan I would think.

Anyway, great initiative my western brothers! wish I could be around to help out with Vinny's handsome training.

Actually, I would know - I interact with them on a daily basis.  We have respect for Balion and its (most of, now that I've seen you post a little)  members, them being a challenge n all in the past.  Hate to drag Juve into this, but he'd be your best source on this topic since he has been in both clans.
