WNL7's coming to an end, and the community looks forward to avoid those big breaks between tournaments and keep up the activity and competition through the scene. With that being said, after scouting around for possible upcoming tournaments, and having noticed that noone was planning to host anything, we've decided to jump in with a good quality tournament to happen through May and June.

Currently, Carpediem and me will act as main admins for the event while Arni, Tardet, Bullez and Asediado will also help in different ways, they'll also be either admins on the tournament, forum staff, or mere consultants in order to run smoothly the competition.

This is just a pre-announcement, so that players are aware of the intentions that we have and teams can start to be built up. The tournament's sign ups will open right after WNL7's done. Planning to have a period of around 10 days to sign up, and 2-3 weeks after WNL7's finished we should meet the first playday.

The format of the tournament will be similar to WSC-BCM type, Group Stage into Knockout Stage. However, considering some positive points seen on WNL7, we're gonna try and add some of those positive aspects noticed there. That being said, we'll seed groups, where people play against teams of their similar level. However not everyone will have the chance to progress through the tournament, Group Stage performance will have a big impact on the outcome of your team, as in every group no matter the level you'll be under preassure matches that can determine even your elimination. 8 teams will qualify to Knockout stage, 6 will go straight from the group stage, while the last 2 spots of the Knockout Stage will be determined through Playoffs.

Thoughts behind format and overall thoughts

You probably have noticed that placements are unbalanced through each group. If you're familiar with football, we're trying to take an approach similar to Champions League qualification process, where major leagues that usually have higher level get more spots secured inside and fewer to playoff, while minor leagues do get more playoff spots to progress through and less straight placement ones. After experiencing many tournaments in this game, and considering the current state, we want to grant a great competitive experience for everyone, avoid those one sided results specially on knockout stage that we witnessed on previous tournaments, and allow at the same time weaker teams on paper to fight with people of their own level and be motivated to come ahead in their groups, and reach tense matches in the playoff to actually progress through the tournament, but not having them thrown straight into an almost impossible match to be won, but instead in 2 rounds where they scalate slowly, beating teams slightly better one after another, and finally earn the spot against teams that initially were seeded as top of the tournament. We believe this will make teams in all categories to try, as those who are seeded better and underperform will see consequences aswell. The amount of matches per week that the tournament takes will generally be 1 except through playoffs week, where 2 matches will happen with maps and factions announced beforehand. If we get more than 16 teams, in the group stage each team will have one week where they are required to play 2 matches, the rest just 1 as usual. This is to avoid extending the tournament. Hope that everyone understands that we also don't want to extend the tournament further, but instead to keep a decent well-set schedule that all teams will accept on sign up and adapt to.

More details will be given on announcement and open sign-up day.

As side notes: Aiming to get at least 16 teams. Also the placements on the format image in the main post, is just an example and not definitive. Don't know if we'll rework which top 6 go straight to knockout, and which spots go for knockout. We'll see.

Everyone interested in streaming is definetly welcomed, would like to have most of the tournament covered. Betting Corners, Statistics, Previews and everything similar are also great parts for the competition, hope that we can manage also as community to bring all of this and hopefully some more alternate stuff(Considering Player Awards, perhaps community-based ones, all-stars or community-election match one, etc.)

Will definetly use Community-Stats patch, yet to discuss if same as WNL7 one or an alternative one.
