Hello.

I don't know if I have posted this problem earlier, but I still haven't got the answers. By the way, my trial has expired, but a "friend of mine" PM'ed me that his was expired too, but it was still working. And I don't always know what folders I extract. And it's pissing me of not being able to play any mod that I like.
Please help.

If you don't own the game, and the trial has expired, you won't be able to play mods anyway.

But extract the mods folder into the modules folder in the M&B directory.

Edit: Sorry, Apparently I forgot how to read for a minute.

Yeah, but I can't buy it either. Because I don't have any net based **** that I need to buy it. All the mods I can play, are the ones that you downlaod as a program.

If by trial here you mean WinRAR and not Mount and Blade, the expiration doesn't affect your use of it. The program will just pop up a buy screen whenever you open the program, nothing will stop you from right clicking and extracting.

Yeah. I open winrar and a popup appears that says:
"Buy Online
How to buy
Close
help"

Just close it and ignore, and I've had winrar for well over 40 days.

Do yourselves a favour and install Total Commander. Handles archives just like folders. Simple as that.
Does a ton of other stuff as well: file management, multiple renaming, ftp, file split / union, file comparison, advanced search, synch dirs.. and on and on...

Seriously, you aren't using winzozz interface anymore, right?  :???:

Oh, yeah. It's free. Donate to author if you like.

Can i ask you a question:

Are you the Author?

Ain't WinRAR free...? I've pretty much had WinRAR since its birth and I've never seen any popup... I rightclick on the archive and choose an option.. You must mean WinZip..? There you get the popup, but I've never got a popup with WinRAR...

And yeah.. I think you can buy M&B in stores too..? Get a nice boxed version with a manual and a map and stuff?

Or you can ask for it as a birthday/Christmas present, I'm sure your folks have a way to pay over the web?

7zip pwns WinRAR anyway, and it's Open Source.  Google 7zip.

BTW, Total Commander is great if you're big on system instability.  Donating may make it better though.

Yeah! But I have tried to delete Winrar from the computer, and installed 7zip. But when I downloaded, it said that it had to search for programs before downloading. Even if I had 7zip installed.

And sometimes I'm not even sure what folder to extract. This is pissing me off.
First, because I can't play Chuck Norris mod. (Made exclusively by Ruthven )
Second, because I can't paly any mod at all.

um..open the file(in 1 of all those programs we have been talking about now ) and just drag the whole folder into D:\Program Files\Mount&Blade\Modules (or where you put yours  ). then start M&B and select the mod and play. Some mods might be different where you must throw in some extra stuff too..but its not rocket science so you should figure it out .

I just use WinRAR.

You have to open it as administrator (right click, that option should be near the top somewhere), because you are editing program files (i think thats only if you are using Vista).

When it brings up the popup, just click the 'close' button. Then left click on the file you want and there is a tab at the top saying 'extract file'; click that.

Then navigate to your mount and blade modules folder, and then extract. You don't need to create another folder inside modules as your are extracting the folder itself (so when extracted it will create its own folder).

I used to get confused as to where exactly you extract files to. Just google 'WinRAR tutorial' (or '7zip tutorial') to get help, there should be something out there with screenshots to help you. If you don't have a file extracting program, get 7zip. I only use WinRAR as it was pre-installed on my laptop as a trial

No, am not the author nor get any money from it. Just trying to be helpful. If you want to stick with winrar or winarj or winwhatever do as you please. I wouldn't use the passages described by seismica not even once and use total commander. Double click = open archive. Any archive. Or better use keyboard if you want to be productive...

This is just nonsense. I have been using several different versions of Total Commander (Win Commander previously) on a lot of different systems. No crashes caused by it. Ever. It's a very unobtrusive program.
Unless you can prove your statement with further details (system? OS? etc.) I'd suggest not doing misleading comments.
Donate doesn't change the program one bit. Just removes the starting screen of the program, no big deal...

7zip is very good too... and of course you can command it from total commander too...

regards

I tried downloading the Chuck Norris mod again. But it didn't work again:neutral:
*sighs*
I'm doomed to play Native and Hundred Years War for eternity

If you've downloaded another mod before then your unzipping program might not be the problem. Are you sure the file is downloading correctly? It could be corrupt?

Sometimes my Firefox download fails, as in it cuts off halfway through but still says its finished. Thats why i use:

http://www.downthemall.net/

Its just a download client add-on for firefox. Its pretty good, increases my download speed (well, it gets past download speed limits that download servers put on users by making the server think it is multiple users, so your only problem is your internet speed)

But i do have problems downloading from mbrepository.com and that seems to be where a lot of mods' downloads are hosted, so i don't know if it will help.

at ddrake:

It was a joke about you being the author

And often its best to use a better known program as if something goes wrong, its easier to get help, as problems you experience most likely have affected other users. Thats why 7zip and WinRAR are the programs of choice for most.

(note that if WinRAR was intended to be purchased, they wouldn't have let the trial users continue to use it after the expired date. Its really easy to limit the programs usage after a certain period of time. I think they only call it a trial in the hope that some people buy it. You never know, it could be more effective than asking users to donate).
