Linux is generally better than Windows when it comes to hosting, mainly due to the massive flexibility of it and the fact that it doesn't have a ludicrous amount of bloatware that Windows Server does (it is also generally cheaper as you do not have to pay for a license, although most data-centres will bundle the license in and just increase the price overall). Ultimately it boils down to whether or not you're capable of managing a Linux distro server, if not, choosing Windows isn't going to severely harm you.
