Windowed mode

I searched to my best ability and I couldn't find anything on this (sorry if there is already a thread!)

I have a pretty good computer (1.8GHz, 768mb RAM, 128mb Radeon 9200se), yet still get 8 or 9 FPS in M&B, so I tried windowed mode. Much better!

Anyway, I noticed the cursor is still free to roam the Windows atmosphere while in windowed mode... This makes it hard to fight. I end up clicking out of the game. Is it possible to make the cursor fixated on the window in the next patch? Thanks!

yes your computer is good enough for this game.do you have directx9?
EDÝT:you should write this to bug reports or customer support

Dxdiag tells me I have DirectX 9.0. I scanned my hard drive for spyware and cleared it... All other games work fine! I wonder what the problem is?

Sorry about the mis-post. I suggested the cursor thing, so I figured I'd put it here... Sorry about that!

did you get the latest graphich card drivers?

For what? Because his mouse jumps out of the M&B window? Rein theres nothing wrong with your computer, thats just how the game is made, if armagan reads this he might fix it.

I guess he is trying to say that game should run much faster with such a computer. For example, my PC is slightly better but FPS does not drop below 30, generally 60-70. There may be a different problem.

I've noticed sometimes that, even if 5 minutes before my FPS was 50-60 against 20 enemy units, that, when I enter a battle, or any 3D part of the game (Zendar, a Tavern, Smithy, etc.) my FPS drops to 5.

If I alt-tab out of the game, and back in to it, it fixes it.

Very weird.

I think there is a problem with the game, because my comp is much worse (512 megs ram, 2.4GHz p4, 64mb geforce ti) and my framerate only goes that low when fighting in water or all the mounted enemies are on screen at once.

It is when you do minor image editing and programming for fun, as well as serious multi-tasking when doing something important. When I write essays for example, I'll have several firefox windows open to wikipedia, a thesarus, google, and a dictionary. I also have word to write, notepad or stickies to jot ideas, whatever programs I was using before writing the essay hidden on another desktop (VirtuaWin rules!) and random stuff specific to what I'm writing, like pdfs and other word documents. You're right that the processor itself isn't bad, but it doesn't meet my needs as well as a multi processor/core computer or a 64 bit processor. And the rest of my system sucks for games. Or really anything else for that matter, except for the most basic things like web browsing.

Me *hits shift key* marnid and borcha vs 40 sea raiders, the game slows to 5fps when i look around, so i tend to keep my "head" down when moving. If I take anymore than 2 or 3 other troops my fps drops another 5-10. large battles and corpses are on, other 3 things are off.

Yeah, you should deffinatly be getting more than 8 or 9 fps Rein. What are your settings at? And what other games are you referring to that you say run fine? It could just be some weird bug related to M&B, but its likely spyware/viruses or just some setting that needs to be changed. Usually M&B doesn't even work correctly without the lastest video card drivers, so i doubt thats the problem, but do make sure you have the newest available.

I get about 10-12 FPS in a full fight on my 2400+ 896ram Geforce 6600GT, all graphic options full, screen resolution 1154x800something, Rein, what resolution do you play in? The resolution of your desktop that is, maybe its too high, try decreasing maybe

I lose FPS when I alt-tab out of the game.

for example,

I can play the game normally at around 50fps.
if I alt-tab out and go back in again I am lucky if I can hit 10.

It will evenyually work its way back up but its usually easier to restart.

Very strange! After using windowed mode, I'm now getting 50-70 FPS! Not sure what was going on, but now it's fixed.

seriously, can we get this fixed? i'd much rather play windowed and it's highly annoying when you accidently hit one of the file menu options in the middle of a battle and your game crashes

Off topic, you might want to verify anything you read from Wikipedia with a hardbound encyclopedia(especially anything going into an essay), because a huge portion of Wikipedia's articles are inaccurate or just false (same with dictionary.com giving mispronunciations and often incorrect definitions. I recommend using the online Cambridge dictionary instead).
