will not restore a saved game

I bought this game last Christmas and played I am at day 2566 at 12:30 and when I tried to restore a saved game the screen just goes blank and Mount and Blade just shuts down.  This is the third time this has happened to me, always at the 2000 and higher days.  There are no other issues with the game other than it doing this.  I just can not seem to get further in the game. 

I am using version1.0

playing in native

using Vista

direct X9

4 GB ram

Intel dual core processor 2Gh

101 GB hard drive

Acer laptop

Looks like a corrupt savegame.
You can try to backup the savegame and reinstall M&B, then place the savegame back.
If that does not work, I'm affraid the savegame is corrupt and there is no way to retrieve it.

Maybe someone else has a suggestion?

Thank you .............. I will just uninstall the game and reinstall and start all over again .........
