Do you think so? Because I feel like it isn't more than a little brother to the real infantry class (which you can get for just 10 more gold)...

As Caps says, you can spawn 3 times with this class where as Oathsworn is only twice. The armour difference doesn't really matter if you've got 100hp extra due to the extra life. Plus you can take spear and large shield to get the shortsword which I find better personally.

it gets javs + the spear aswell, not the biggest fan of the short sword. The wildling got insane ms though

The javelin perks in the second perk are pretty much useless as you already start out with some, the only reasonable perk to choose is the spear, since it provides the anti-cav you really need. The longer sword perk is a must, and the shield is something you can live with as most archers that you meet seem to be afraid to footshot, but I'd see an improved armor perk working on this class in the place of the axe perk, which is useless.

one of my favorites units. but i would increas the armor value like you did it by the oathsworn and maybe increas the shield size a bit

With the new movement speed it has, and extra javelin perk taking you up to 7, this feels like a proper skirmisher class now, thank you.

The perks really give you some good choice, and I think this is a good example of what every class should be like. I do think the Spear is a wasted perk slot still, would rather some armour changing perk there.

Probably the best medium infantry and the nearest to the warband infantry feeling.

I would wish that the javelins could be the second weapon when scrolling through rather than the third. This also applies to every other class with ranged weapons. It's very annoying when you use a siege engine, leave it to defend myself against a melee attacker and die because you have to do multiple weapon switches before you can block.

Yes. So this class is always equiped with throwing weapons. However, the throwing spear is very strong. The problem is if you choose this throwing spear so have so many scrolls to make before you get to what you want. In Warband I NEVER played with double throwing weapons (that is, two of different types of throwing weapons) because sometimes you just need to be able to switch fast and you can't do that with this class.

@AVRC I think it would be wise to think of something for this.

And perhaps other people can share their opinion on this, my guess is many people find double throwing weapons annoying.

I agree, this class is the one that feels the most complete for its price.

I agree, Wildlings feel great, maybe my favorite class overall.

The shield change was interesting, very distinct, makes them unusable for absorbing arrows, which I really like actually. There should probably be more specialist melee shields around tbh.

The only quibble I have with their current perk loadout are really just problems with Captain mode in general:
-Axes don't really affect shields enough to make the choice worth considering, even against Targes and Recruit shields you will not see them break in a melee.
-Stronger Javelins perk is not good enough to really be worth considering. Throwing spear has a similar damage output potential with default javs, plus the ability to one shot enemies quickly and be used to fend off cavalry.
-Having Throwing Spear + Javs as a standard loadout for skirmishers causes problems. I can't tell them which one to throw first, they seem to decide based on range, so if I am protecting archers with my spears it means I cannot throw missiles at all.

All that said, they feel great. A good flanking and support infantry for your Clans or Oaths, can be used to engage the enemy first so savages can flank, and can pull double duty as rearguard for archers. Feels like what the Brigands want to be.

The 2nd perk is abit inconsitant.
Extra javelins: Instead of 3 javelins that do 40 damage each you get 6 javelins that do 40 damage each.
Throwing spear: Instead of 3 Javelins that do 40 damage each you get 3 javelins that do 40 damage each and a single throwing spear that does 105 damage when thrown or can be used in melee.
Stronger javelins: instead of 3 javelins that do 40 damage each you get 3 javelins that do 51 damage each.

Both extra javelin and throwing spear perk give you something alongside your 3 javelins that do 40 damage. Stronger javelins outright replaces them with a better option but doesent give anything else aside from that. So while they individually do more damage, you are losing out on potential damage. Extra javelins gives you 6 projectiles and throwing spear perk gives you 4. Stronger javelins keeps you at 3. Seeing as you can miss your projectiles just getting 3 that do a little bit more damage doesent to be worth it imho.

Is this inentional? The rest of the class is quite good, a short sword and a shield that can be influenced with the 1st perk slot but I think its abit weird how the perks are handled. This class is quite well armoured compared to other skirmishers and they dont seem to sacrifice anything for that.

With the talks about the Throwing Spear replacing the Javelin quiver in future updates, I wonder if it'd be worth it for his various stats and weapon loadouts to be adjusted to help him fulfill a niche similar to the Khuzait Spear Infantry, considering that he and the Spear Infantry are the only two medium infantry units in the game.

Yeah, i know that he'll be less effective with one-handed weapons with the upcoming patch though I still think it'd be worth it to see if say giving him the Highland Club as a Perk 1 choice would lessen the blow of the universal skirmisher nerfs.
