Wife's head-dress

Hi all,

Is there anyway to ensure that your wife doesn't have a head-dress? I always immediately rule out the women who have those massive head things on.

However, I seem to recall that some of their dress changes? Is that true, or am I safe with the women without those silly head things...

I haven't noticed any changes in clothing, I also agree the head raps look silly, but it dosn't really matter. Marrying yourself into a good family is better then the ladies appearence.

I think it's random (for each game) whether the women end up with headwear.

Get Morgh's editor and from there go to the troop editor in the .txt editor and then go down to the section with the ladies and remove all head dress from their inventory.

That won't work, because it's scripted depending on the lady's random personality. I think it's tomboyish and ambitious ladies who don't get a wimple. You have to use the module system to stop them being allocated to any lady.


I THINK this is the line, but I've tweaked so much that I don't remember. Open scripts.txt with Notepad++ and find "add_lady_items -1" which should be followed by this line of numbers:

That should restrict headgear to the old, married matronly ladies and leave the eligible maidens hatless - but back up, taste and try before you buy, I may have the wrong tweak. (you'll have to start a new game anyway)

Ha, what I do in 'classic' M&B (where you can't marry though), is:
I get into the file Item_kinds.txt, and I look at the second number after the (4) names of the items. I chance those after the ladies' headdresses into numbers which are also after headwear already for sale in marketplaces. That way, they disappear from the ladies' heads, and I can buy them in markets.

All of them do.  I actually like the Khergit headdresses.  The Sarranids's look like headscarves--not thrilling, but OK, as are the toques that the other factions get.  The wimples  look ridiculous, though.

Ridiculous looking, but historically accurate. In medieval western Europe married women usually wouldn't be seen in public without there hair covered, a bit like devout Muslims today. Unmarried girls, however, could wear their hair uncovered and loose - which is why my tweak removes the headgear for the bachelorettes. That, and because it's hard to tell them apart with the wimples! A lot of the ladies are identical clones in vanilla.
