They wanted to give Vlandia a medium infantry. I think most of us would have preferred they replaced the Military Bill or better still the Volgue instead.

Then make the Voulge a perk instead of the billhook and give the sword to improved armor.

atm ppl spam 2h on every gamemodes, so ppl use voulge and billhook rather than swobo
