Why so many people hate Christanity?

Well in my opinion religion was just a way to 'rule by fear'.

I don't believe in any religion at all, though i do like the idea of sacrificing people as a pagan!

What, and nothing to do with the fact that it's creator told everyone beforehand he was going to create a religion as an experiment?

It's a good way to appear bravely anti-religious, while not actually being very brave. Hit the old mangy mutt, rather than the young pit-bull
Oh I dunno, outside of fundamentalist countries you could do the same thing to any religion without needing to worry.

Which is why the authors of the mohammed cartoons have been threatened with their houses being bombed?

And Theo van Gogh being killed, etc.

Not very knowledgeable about L. Ron Hubbard or his religion, but I do agree that would put a crimp in its legitimacy.

Many of the Muslims around here have been assaulted, had their properties attacked and been threatened with knives. Wouldn't claim that this makes Christianity dangerous just because the people doing it profess to be Christian.

When did I say muslims were dangerous? You said you wouldn't need to worry about insulting/satirising another religion in a non-fundamentalist country. The editor of that newspaper and the author of the comic were both threatened and harassed. I'd call that worrying.

Their god is too small if he needs puny people to protect his reputation, same as the Christian God was "too small" when nominal Christians thought they had to go get the Holy Lands for Him.  Like He couldn't do that without us if that was His plan.  It's the people who call themselves "Christian" or "Muslim" that casue the problems, when they don't know or don't care what their holy books say about respecting others, or accept the most violent interpretation possible.

Yes, and the people doing the threatening and harassing were breaking the law of that country. Go walk into a Catholic area in Belfast and tell someone the Pope is a wanker and you'd get the exact same treatment.

More to the point, walk down some parts of Glasgow with a Rangers top on and you'll be lucky to only be threatened and harassed. Does this mean football is suddenly a religion, or is it just that some ****wits have problems understanding the basic concepts of society?

Besides, the guy was a professional science fiction writter. And some people still believe in that scientology ****. Amazing.

Besides, they believe humans came from an alien called Quaark who laid his eggs in a volcano or something. And they have brainwashing camps.

No they believe that we are aliens who have been frozen by the evil god emperor of the universe Xenus or something and then thrown into a volcano from spacecrafts that look like the Boeing passenger planes on Earth where our souls left our bodies and entered the bodies of the soul-less homo-sapiens inhabiting the planet.

How high do you have to be to actually believe in this crap?

Scientology is a great example of people believing what they want to believe and ignoring everything else.  The Egyptian "translations" of Joseph Smith are another great example.  Proof positive that Mormonism is pure idiocy but they refuse to acknowledge it.

A great example in the case of Jewish Messiahs is Sabbatai Zevi in the 17th century. He claimed to be the Jewish Messiah and gained a wide following among the Jews of Europe. He was later captured by the Turkish sultan where he converted to Islam.  He lost most of his following but some continued to believe (still today as well). They imagined that apostasy was a religious mystery and part of their Messiah's message.

Much the same way that the surprise death of Jesus was incorporated into the mystery of christianity.

More like how low. Those bastards prey on the weak minded and the empty pocketed. Luckily they're becoming increasingly illegal (if you see what I mean)

You have hit the nail on the head.
