Well watch your back all the time because someone will always try to hit you from behind.

In war people got killed in the back all the time It's war, It isn't supposed to be fair.

And it is Fair, you have the tools to prevent that from happening. Time to use it.

Warband is a game, it's supposed to be fair. I wouldn't like to play in a server where admin uses admin tools to give him unfair advantages.

That is a terrible comparison.

Your example is akin to someone hacking, it is bad for a game because it allows one player to bypass the inherent "rules" of the game and gives them uncountable abilities that have nothing to do with skill.

Stabbing someone in the back is however not an unfair action, it is merely a result of one player having bad situational awareness (or too many other things to pay attention to) and putting themselves in a bad position (with or without choice).

To take a sport example, there is nothing wrong in hockey with checking someone who has the puck if they aren't paying attention to you. There is however something wrong with (to make a silly/extreme example) pulling out a gun and shooting them.

The example was meant to be about something being unfair, I think that accomplished that. There's nothing more to it, unless you read between the lines.

It may just be a really poor comparison but I still think it merits a clarification. Even if it wasn't your intention to compare backstabbing to admin abuse that isn't clear when you don't explain that the context of your example at all.

Unfairness through game mechanics (tactics, skill, etc.) =/= Unfairness by breaking the rules of the game (hacking, admin tools, etc.)

Hey all,

Why do you think people call archers and cavalry "noob" that can't fight? I think every class has different aspects to consider. What is your opinion about this?

Because when somebody calls a someone else a noob they are really saying "I'm frustrated with you".

*sigh*

Very well. I wasn't comparing backstabbing to admin abuse, I was noting that this was not real life, and should not be compared to one. Admin abuse was the only example of unfairness in the game I could come up with. I don't see tactics, skill, etc. being unfair. If you can come up with something else you can honestly say being unfair in the game, please do.

^ More or less the general view going back to 2010.  The "noob calls" come in to play based on the belief that there is more to learn with infantry than other classes.  A player can get on a horse or take a(n) x/bow and be relatively effective from the get go whereas it takes a fair amount of time to learn the nuances of infantry play in order to reach a similar level of effectiveness.

The other factor to consider is that because a number of players opt to go cav or ranged early on due to the preceding point, they don't get acclimated to infantry combat until much later. The result being that if they get caught in a melee scenario (horse is killed or they are charged/flanked by infantry while playing ranged) they die pretty quickly and "can't fight" so to speak.

Every class has its roles, it just comes down to realizing what they are how best to fulfill them.  Well-rounded class understanding (with a strong infantry foundation) is the true key to Warband success and not being called a noob... unless you're being trolled (no shortage of that these days, unfortunately).

This.  Infantry melee is the core skill around which you build a competent warband player.
