Why is the "Long Fur Coat" almost as good as scale mail?

I've seen a number of helmets seeming to be hide or leather literally as good weight wise and armor wise to what seems to be metal helmets. For me it feels weirds

Edit: Highland Scale Mail weigh 11.3, Long Fur Coat weigh 2.6...

In the beta 1.2 patch I still see this with some items. I think they are trying to have some expensive civilian armor that can be worn in towns. However the pricing for some of these non-battlefield armors still doesn't reflect that. Either that or it's one of the many things they have missed in balancing between patches.
