Why is enemy cavalry always suiciding?

The first thing that happens every battle is the enemy cavalry vanguard running head first into an arrow storm and dying.

I don't see that happens in my game. The only cavalry that charge head first are archer calvary to haras your line (which is quite annoying). But their infantry and melee cavalry always advance in formation together with their generals, that is if they're the one attacking. If they're defending they just hold position waiting for me to get to them.

The only groups that charge at me disorderly are bandits.

Bandits are tards ? shouldn't be.

What annoys me is my cav charging enemy infantry when I want them to attack enemy to their front - cav. .. ignore the spearmen.

Yeah, maybe the problems is only with some factions. Especially the Sturgian cavalry think they are horse archers and try to close the distance for their throwing weapons, instead getting rekt by archers.

This does not happen in every Battle, this happens for battles where the enemy side has skirmish cavalry. AI does not suicide melee cavalry if It does not have skirmish cav.

For example, Sturgia is a faction which usually suicide its cavalry units in almost every battle.

Life inside bannerlord is intolerable. I am surprised we don't see whole armies jumping off cliffs. I know if they don't straighten out 1.3 before forcing it on me, I might just jump off a cliff.

From what I've seen, the enemy AI cavalry doesn't always suicide charge me. If defensive, they'll remain on the flanks of their infantry and archers. But if offensive, the horse archers will charge, and the 3 cavalry they have will also charge my 30 cavalry. So yes this needs to be fixed. Especially sergeants and sometimes commanders charging alone into a body of 50 cavalry and 100 archers.

Ok, I see. An immediate fix would be to assign cavalry with throwing weapons to the same group as melee cavalry.

Skirmish Cav behaving like they're HA with range is a big problem, yeah. It has neither the range nor sustained firepower to be engaging in those early battle shennanigans.

Yeah I was just thinking the same thing myself. I would love an expanded order set that allowed me to send individual groups after specific enemy targets, i.e. tell my Cavalry to attack ONLY the enemies Cavalry and Horse Archers or tell my Archers to ONLY focus on enemy Archers, etc.

On the other hand, even without this, wrecking an AI army larger than your own, many times with only very light casualties, is already a common occurrence so expanding the order set would only make this easier. What we really need is an expanded enemy AI.

What I've seen is that ai battle commanders (ai lords) will have cavalry go from defending flanks, to harassing enemy cav or archers, to flanking defenders. But sergeant ai will just charge straight into a pile of archers/infantry. That's fine if you have a ton of cavalry and a smaller amount of archers/infantry but not so fine if the numbers are equal or less.
Mounted archers ai does an excellent job of pulling back when it needs to and typically needs very little oversight. I just wish we could get that kind of behavior from cavalry. I personally enjoy being a battlefield commander but feel like I have to either personally lead my cavalry or micro them hard so they don't kill themselves and doing that all the time gets tiring.
