Why I Don't Use This Weapon

I actually find the heavier crossbows to be excellent weapons against infantry. What I do is, I fire my crossbow on horseback, ride away a safe distance, dismount, reload, fire, reload, ride off and fire. Repeat.

Sure. Unfortunately, not everything is infantry and it's my impression that reload time and damage don't increase the way it does with the bow. Seems like a dead end to me. Could be wrong though.

Least favourite weapon? With 0.750, it's the lance, because I'm too crap to hit anything with it. Give me two large bags of jarids, a watered-steel broadsword/scimitar and a reinforced war shield any day.

I haven't noticed a difference, I can still easily mow down bands of anything from river pirates to dark knights.

Mounted archers are hard, or well not otherwise, but I always equip them as mongols thus they have no proper armour on them. Not a nice thing when meeting sea raiders now that the ranged AI is fixed.

I haven't really ever used crossbows. They're just so boring.

what's up with the necrophilia? Don't you people live near morques?

Necrophilia? I haven't noticed any, otherwise it'd be "Out with the pitchforks!"

Are you sure?

well, posting in a thread after a nine month gap is, IMO thread necroing.

Now ask yourself... what is preferable: Resurrecting an old thread, or starting a new one? I don't know about you, but I've always thought it was better not to post a new thread when there was already an existing thread that covers the topic you want to talk about... but maybe that is just me.

Oh, necroing. He said necrophilia. COMPLETELY different thing.

i have warhammers, good damage, but is too slow

i take a spear, warshield, scrimitar/sabre, and jarids/javelins

Bastard swords. They look like they have good stats, but from what I understand, it only applies to two-handed use. If I want a two-handed weapon, I'll go with it, and the hell with shields. (wish I had had one for the end of storymod though).

Any sword that has a thrust as well as a chop (slash, whatever) attack. My dude always seems to use the thrust at the wrong moment, and it seems much slower, weaker and short on range. Also sometimes he must surely skewer his own horse in the brain pan! In fact any thrusting weapon is rather poor in M&B. An axe or a sabre will do me fine.

A staff with a shield. That is completly and utterly worthless. You can poke riverpirates to death one hit point a time, if you're lucky.

I almost never use any polearms if I can help it. That might change if someone makes one of those "crow beak" warhammers....
I've been trying to hold back on modding weapon speeds, and whether they can thrust or not, how they're used on horseback, etc... but it's getting tempting... how the heck can someone NOT thrust with a scimitar... sure, you can't do a straight thrust.. but you can thrust along a curved path... or nomad sabres for instance... lots of these sword can and do thrust (depending on blade curvature and cross-section).

Staffs... I generally never use staffs except in the very first 5 or 6 levels when I can't use any of the good 2H weapons.

Don't know why people don't like bags of rocks, they're the most useful thing outthere, you can knock out your allies with those things, then run away so that an entire warparty becomes prisoner to 3 mountain bandits....

I like your thinking. But, anything you can knock out with rocks ain't worth having.

A nice thick iron staff is my weapon of choice for capture-the-enemy missions. If I'm bored or pressed for time, I just couch the staff. If I'm in the mood for a little scrap, I get off my horse and do a little one-on-one with the enemy commander with the staff. Nice range, good damage, multiple functionality, fun for all ages.
