Why has it been in development for so long and so little was done?

You say criticism is good but keep my arguments to myself. Shure thing "kiddo". What you are doing is not "constructive criticism" is just crying about something that cant be changed.

LOL. Your "argument" was about something I never said, making it invalid. Go look up what criticism is. Arguments =/= criticism. Please quote where I am "crying about something". You prove yourself a foolish child with every word.

Making the engine, scenes, animations, textures, and sound recording are some of the most time consuming parts of developing a game.
But I don't know OP, what is lacking that was promised for EA?

This is a ****ing awesome game all ready and just to know theres more to come and to be polished is just a cream on the cake  Well the only real gripe i got is that perks ar´nt all working yet which they should prioritize for the players. Im almost up to 200 hours now in 12 days so yeah its a good game and they damn nailed this sequel with a bang ^^

The game was completely reimagined once during development, they created a whole engine to create this game, they also have lives. The developers tried their hardest to produce such an amazing game.

WTF dude, that's an average of 16.67 hours a day. You need help.
not really man but thnx for caring ^^ but its more like 14.75 to be more exact of me

Creating base for sandbox games is very time consuming. Add writing you own engine to this, and we get a timeline.

6 hours of sleep, 16,5 hours of playing, thats 1,5 hours for everything else... sounds legit.
Plenty of time.
And if thats not enough, learn to sleep faster, as Schwarzenegger once said.

My speculation
2012-2013: ???
2014-2016: Actual development on Warband engine
2017-2020: Warband engine was scrapped because they must have found out how limiting it is, they scrapped everything and started a new engine.
In 2018 we had a dev blog saying that engine was about 80% done, so the real game development lasted for 1.5 years.
Things that were saved after warband project was scrapped: Music, Sounds and Writing.

I mean they took a very long time with this game and it was released quite unpolished. Is something wrong with their time management?
You need to quit complaining, its a very small company, and they have done a great job. The "unpolished" nature of it is part of early access. Get out or help them make it better.

This thread is why I think coding and software should be taught in every school. I don’t think many people understand how complex a video game is especially one of this magnitude. I don’t think they understand how software development works and how difficult it is to catch and fix bugs or even what bugs are and how it emerges. I also don’t think they seem to understand the modern game development cycle or why it’s better for the consumer that they get to give input and feedback during development rather than after. The early videos you saw of Bannerlord was a demo/proof of concept, you can put together something like that in a relatively short period of time but making the many intertwined and working systems takes a lot longer. Switching engines midway through adds to this time even more.
