Why doesn't my multiplayer work?

Everytime I try to join a game I always get a message that says "Incorrect Authorization Key" does anyone know why this is? please help I feel like I'm missing out :cry:
 
You did make sure to register your authorization key after buying it, right? If so, and the game accepted it, I'm not sure what the problem would be :sad:. Maybe try the tech support forum?

Where was I supposed to register it?
 
Don't you get a message when you start the game warning you that it's in trial mode? If so, you should be able to see a register option.

The Steam version, if that's what you have, may be a little different in this regard. In that case, I assume you'd have an option to register within Steam (right click the game in your list maybe?)
 
I bought it from Amazon and it installed through steam, so I think it's the full game.

Edit: I went on steam and couldn't find any where to enter an authorization key
 
Yes, if you bought it from Amazon it'll be the full game. I didn't know that Amazon sold the Steam version, but if that's how you launch your game then I assume that you'd activate via Steam. Try right click the game in your Steam games list and see if there's an option there somewhere to enter the key? (I assume they'd send your key via email, or within the box if you got a boxed version)

If you can't find any option there, then I'm not sure how you'd activate.

Just to verify that it is a problem with being in trial mode, and not some other issue - have you played single player yet? And if so, have you been able to go beyond level...8, I think it is? If you're in trial mode, after you reach that level you'll get a message saying that your game has been saved, and you'll need to activate it to continue playing and leveling that character.

If you've leveled much higher than that, and gotten no such message, then it seems that your game is activated and that it's some other issue that's giving you an error with your authentication code in multiplayer. If that's the case, I'd search the tech support forums and see if you can find some way to resolve the issue. If you have no luck with a search, start a thread there and see if someone can help you with the problem.

Edit: OK apparently the thread was moved to tech support already, so ignore my advice to start a new thread if a search doesn't turn up anything.
 
It is the full game and it came in a box, but it decided to install onto steam. Now I'll go and check the forums to see if others have this issue and resolved it. Thanks anyway :smile:
 
I remember a topic that explained the solution more thoroughly but this is all i can find.


unistall the game
go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER - software - mountandbladewarbandkeys
delete the folder "mountandbladewarbandkeys"
restart the computer
reinstall the game
play

I'll try that as soon as my dad gets home cause I can't install anything. I'll say if it works or not. Thanks for helping :smile:
 
Ok i've found the topic, this way you don't have to uninstall the game.

Start - Run - Regedit
Search for MountAndBladeWarbandKeys.
Check the serial_key and make sure it's your Warband key.
If it's not your key edit it so it becomes your key.
 
If you're using Vista or Windows 7 there won't be a "Run" option, instead just type "Regedit" into the search bar in the start menu.
 
The regedit didn't fix it but being an administrator does, but thanks for the help anyway.
