why does the hair look like this?

Why does the hair edges look like that? and how to correct it?

Try Dx7 mode.

Well that bit on the hair is hardly that bad.

yes I know, but I was wondering if it can be fixed, without having to play with dx7.

Try updating video driver, sometimes that helps.
