Why do they call it castle management when there is no management involved?

I have to admit, I am really disappointed in the castle "management" function because there is absolutely ZERO management to it. Instead they should call it the castle "upgrade" system because that is all your doing. There are no "meaningful" choices you have to make. Upgrading the milita doesn't cause production to go down because more people are being used as Milita and therefore can't work at other trades. Focusing on farming doesn't cause the milita to degree and prosperity to go lower because you are using all hands to man the field. The choices you make at your town or castle have to have meaningful impact on your city for it to be called a "management" system and there should be random situations that you actually have to react to in a certain manner.

What we have now is pretty pathetic, just upgrade everything to level 3 and let it ride.

yes, its just like another workshop or caravan, its just another passive money/influence printing machine so you can wage war more effectively, no strategy involved at all. So i am not even pissed anymore at the shoddy voting system, since its no fun to own fiefs anyway.

We can only hope that they improve on the developement of caravans, workshops, fiefs and kingdoms overall....so we have something else to do than just waging war

Agreed. Also, upgrading is not verry rewarding, as it's so easily done. Especialy getting the walls to lvl. 3. should be verry expensive and a lvl. 3 City a rare thing to see. Like some wealthy capital cities. The level two cities should still be a sign of great wealth, while the lowest ones, well just normal cities.

Yes they should be more than just building buildings

Also the building time is way too low or there are not enough options. Whenever I get a castle or city if its not already maximum upgraded it will be within a few days with boost money.
It takes decades to build or upgrade castles now thats probably a bit much but an ingame year unboosted for something like walls upgrade build tine would actually be nice.

Also required repairs after capture would be nice.

We still have a problem that castles just another passive source of money and influence(becosue 10 000 that i have is not enough). And behind of that they are completely useless.

Yea funny thing about them only being upgrades is some of the upgrades are actually bad.

Like I don't get Aquaducts as the increase in prosperity makes food production go down. Even increasing the Loyalty of a settlement has a negative effect on food production as Loyalty increases Prosperity which in turn reduces food production. (So fairgrounds are also bad)

Really annoying too that the AI also loves building those things and constantly sets the Daily Defaults to +Prosperity and +Loyalty.

Would love the food storage/production issue to get solved soon.

Yes! And a maintenance fee could be something. So the more upgraded it is, the more work needs to be done, to keep it in shape. So you, and the AI would have to think twice if you could afford a maxed out castle or city. And if you don't take care, people from the village would take Stones from the walls to build stuff of their own, like - if I'm not completely wrong - it happend to castles in the middle ages. Not visiting your castle from time to time should have the same effect, as people would start to think "Our lord never comes here. He oviously don't need the walls to be that high." The last thing could be countered with assining a governeur (would make him have to do something) as there is already a limit of comanions you could have that would be fine with me. (And to prevent visiting your castle become just hop in and out, castle related issues would be nice.) And last but not least, a badly organised, not taken care of castle should be able to desolve into a mere village, or if that's not posslible because of the game mechanics (Villages are bound to a castle or city), at least the villages dissolve to a looted state, as the ill protected villagers have left, which than would have a negative effect to your reknown. I mean, you would be known as the lord, who couldn't even take care of his estates.

But I'm confident that things will develop. Early Access is still verry early and if it realy takes a year to finalize it, I belive there are still many good things to come. So, let's keep our heads high. I for myself like the game even if I role my eyes on many points thinking, could't be that hard to have thought about it before. But might be, that's why I'm just a player, not a developer
