Why do shopkeepers have so little money?

I came back from a trip of pillaging villages, and wanted to sell the loot in town, but the shopkeepers only have 300-500 denars?? I tried another town and it's the same there, too. I'd have to visit like half a dozen towns to off-load all my loot...
Is this intentional in the mod or something? I would have expected shopkeepers of towns to be much more wealthier...

I think it's intentional to make it not too easy to get much money at the beginning. The money the shopkeepers have increases over time.  A"few hundreds" must be at the start of your game. However it's never enough to sell precious loot entirely. You can compensate this by buying items (which are fortunately partly very expensive) and selling your loot after this.
