Why do I need to pay for the same game again

Users who are viewing this thread

When I tried out the multiplayer beta for Warband, I didn't like it all that much. There wasn't any of the strategic fun found in the original game, unless an entire team camping in a house or everyone grinding for lances is your idea of fun. Maybe you guys fixed that, but then the players themselves: No offense, but Warband players were some of the most annoying sorts I've ever encountered in an online game. Children with inflated self-worth, self-diagnosed Aspergers sufferers, and you might as well leave if someone with a girly name joins: Everyone will turn up their creepy white knight dials to max.

So the multiplayer isn't something I want. But the singleplayer game itself... what is added? One faction? Some new items? Same map, same engine. Mods that have been made as far back as .7 versions that have a a ridiculous amount of better content.

So why should I pay more than twice what I did over 4 years ago? Literally the only reason I could see is keeping up with the latest mods... I literally went "what" when I saw my old serial didn't work for Warband. And at what taleworlds wants for it... especially given how much more popular this game has become. Convince this jaded old timer of the worth of what should be a minor update.

Don't buy it, then. The main focus has been multiplayer. If you think you're better than those people who can manually block (thats my guess) don't buy it. We honestly couldn't care less.

Are you seriously asking for half the game free because you don't like the other half? :o I don't like being an evil god so I want to be able to play as good god in black & white for free!

Don't jump down his hosepipe for not wanting to pay for something he doesn't like or want. If you read the last line of his post you'd realize he wants someone to point out the positive points of buying the game (presumably because he wants to hear the opinions of people who DO like the game, and maybe give him an angle he hadn't noticed before).

To be honest, I can't justify the money either, because I didn't like the premise of the gameplay either, mostly because of most of the same points you have made. My advice is to stick to the mods and not play warband, or wait until more function is introduced into the game.

I'll be honest. I'm not buying warband. And my reason is simple: I enjoy the original version a lot. I don't need multiplayer to have fun in this game, and I'm willing to sacrifice the chance to play with some of the other goodies in warband to save some money.

I still love the original version, and I'm glad I bought it in the first place. I'm playing with Custom Settlements right now, and I'm having a great time.

You just proved his point about MP.  I'm sorry they added it to Warband, frankly.

There goes the neighborhood...

That is totally the wrong comparison to draw. It should be more like : I bought black & white good god edition (®™) and now they have brought out bad god edition, with an extra creature to train. But I don't like playing an evil god. Is it worth it?

- 1 new faction
- New map (although same town names)
- Marriage
- Improved animations. (spears thrust goes when you point it, overhead attacks look much better)
- Kick (was nerfed a lot recently though)
- UI tweaks, upgrading troops for instance
- Chamber blocks
- New unit grouping system. (can put all your heroes into a group to give commands specifically to them)

Theres a fair few changes which imo improve the single player of the game a lot, there may be more changes i've not mentioned.
I'm a fan of multiplayer so I'd suggest you give it another go and try to find some decent servers to play on.

There are sooo many improvements to warband graphically, politically, usability and to the combat system that I would never be able to play the standard game even with a good mod.

I tell ya, I'm conflicted on this topic, as I've had it several times with my gaming friends.

I didn't really start playing Warband till about a month ago, though I've had M&B for years.

I'm a M&B SP addict. I prolly play it at least a few hours a day.. the original. There aren't too may mods for M&B that I've been able to get into. PofP and a few others, but thats it. I like the original..I dunno why, I just do.

Then I bought warband, and I was elated and infuriated all at the same time.

I loved the new map, I loved the addition of the "bandit camps" and the corresponding quests (2k exp) and I loved the new horse speeds. I like that you can become king/queen, but the whole kingdom management thing is fubar. (It's really hard to conquer the entire map anyway [even in vanilla M&B]).

However, I loath the new actions.txt (hacked it to the original), the couching of the lance. The economy is totally screwed up and Mameluks rule the battlefield.

I tried MP, but I've never been a big MP user..didn't like it.

On an average, I'm not sorry I purchased Warband, but practically, I still play vanilla M&B a lot more.

The OP never even replied to the thread... I thought you have to feed a troll for it to be a troll.  :?

Anywho, I think everyone agrees on this subject, that it's about personal preference and choice. I for one would love to play with some of the new things in Warband, but I won't, 'cause I don't want to spend the extra cash. Original M&B is still great, and I love playing it even now.

i'm afraid i have to agree, i made this accound to show my disapproval at how my CD key didn't work for the new warbands version. As for you people who are going on about how you couldn't care less, don't bother reading the thread and don't bother replying. your only wasting your time and our time.

moving on.

if i'm hounest i think it takes the piss that we have paid for a game that has been fantastic and a huge movement on so many levels, us the people who supported it from the start of it's development before people even know about the game, before this company thay developed M&B was so popular and making a decent profit have been treated this way. that we have put in our suggestions, reported the bug we have found only to be told that we have to pay double the cost for a game that has only been given a couple of new features and had a couple of updates.

That's not trolling, it's a perfectly valid point. It just doesn't come out very politely when I put it bluntly.

No one forced you to support them, and I'm quite sure that no one forced you to test for bugs either. Whatever fantasies you have about people owing things to you are not a facet of reality. It's quite nice of you to take time and support things, but if you're looking for a reward you better make sure there's a written agreement about that somewhere.
