Why did Talesworld not add slaves ?

Users who are viewing this thread

I think we need a feature that adds slaves or "prisoners of war" Which means u can acquire slaves during villager raids, attacking roaming villagers and caravans or prisoners of war,
Having slaves will make ur carrying capacity doubled and always can be thrown into towns so that the town will receive a boost to building projects similar to the option of adding money. having the option for slaves to rebel in a city if the slave population is higher then garrison could also be an option, Another addition could be we actually see man hunters on the map again hunting villagers and slaves and selling them slave traders who will be in the tavern just like the regular ones but instead of just selling u can also buy slaves.slaves play a huge role in a medieval Economy and Seems like a pretty easy add as prisoners are already apart of the game.

Inappropriate behavior (race-baiting)
Because no region has black people in Calradia. It's not part of the lore.

I'm pretty sure that's not what he meant...

Slavery is not restricted to black people and maybe you haven't played the game enough to notice that there are black people.

It also could be tied to kingdom policies, in that not every kingdom would practice...

Lol I've got more than 2k hours on the game haven't played in months though. Waiting on 1.2 and depending which mods will update I'll give it a try

Can't remember seeing black people in the game though. But ya character customisation allows it so they'll likely in it.

You think the op is suggesting to enslave the sturgians or the kuzaits?

War prisoners ARE NOT BASED ON RACE. If you knew anything about history you’d know that slavery was not about race but about which country was at war with one another . Slavery was just a prize after raiding or battle . Slavery was around before America

我觉得这将引起不必要的争议,就像现在一样。

I feel like this will be unnecessarily controversial, as it is now.

There is a skill that make use of prisoners as a work force.
Given the low ransom for tier 1-3 it should be posible to keep such as a work force in cites and castle.

But where do you see a use for slaves in the game? Other then just add a name slave trader to the game.

Kenshi is the only game Ive played that does slavery well. In most games they're just a stat that generates money, or are just regular NPCs with chains who you mindcontrol like any other NPCs.

Slavery has so many gameplay and setting implications that they should either go hard or go home. A halfassed slavery system is way worse than having none at all.

An excerpt from this reddit thread (massive kudos to the OP for scouring through code to see all the cut content):
  • Commented out lines in world_lore_strings.xml in SandBox refer to each of the Empire factions having disagreement over various laws, several of which hint towards the sexism mechanic and slavery mechanics, both of which no longer exist.
  • minor_faction_conversations.xml contains dialogue for a slave rebellion led by a man named 'Corastos', hinting at a cut slavery mechanic
So slavery and sexism mechanics were planned initially, but were ultimately removed. Maybe it's to keep the age rating low in some countries (here in germany you only need to be 12 years old to play Bannerlord) but that might be a stretch.

Do they not teach history where you go/went to school or did you just sleep through it all? Fyi every race has been enslaved at some point in history it's not just black people.

@Foryourinfo123 Most likely because it would automatically force them to have a Mature rating in some regions and I seriously doubt Taleworlds wants that.
What’s the difference between prisoners and slaves? U literally sell and capture prisoners who’s to say there would be any difference by just changing the name to “slaves “. If u read the text when u sell prisoners it literally says “slave trade”

slave trade has always been apart of mount and blade it has just been very subtle I guess to preserve the rating , I just wanna add a more in depth system which would make prisoners useful beyond selling and recruiting like if u know anything about the salve trade then u know it’s what built empires . All I want for this game is to make it as realistic as possible and make it feel like a true medieval world and what’s a medieval world without slaves to do the dirty work for u.

Would’ve been a killer addition.

I know it's a matter of semantics but plenty of people get really jumpy when you start using the word slavery.

Yeah, It would be great to have this.

Didn't you talk with ransom broker? The era of slavery has passed.
I've never seen such a pointless suggestion before.

I guess Sparticus was somehow Black. Or the celts, vandals, visigoth, greeks, slavs were black too.

And for people to have played the game for so long and not notice what the Jawwal look like is something. Let alone companion characters like Deshavi, Rolf and Nizar.

Moderators please stop this thread before its too late.

It's a sensitive subject for many and some are getting aggressive because i don't have a major in history.

I've even been attacked in this sub.

Besides out of all this game lacks and could be implemented the OP wants slavery... So that he can carry more weight and speed up construction. Isn't there a perk already that makes prisoners carry weight? Can't you pay to speed up buildings?

It's clear to me the op is trying to troll out of his own boredom..

There no diplomacy system in the game many features are half broken and he wants slavery.. oh please.
