Why did Oceania get screwed out of an official server?

The only server currently running is a tiny 48 player cap server that is always full, so alot of potential players are forced into playing on the high ping US servers. Maybe instead of the US getting 6, they could get 5 and give us one. Would be much appreciated.
 
Oceania is a region that consists of more countries than Australia alone. It also includes New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji and Indonesia to mention a few. It has a popualation of around 36 million people.

Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne are three capital cities of the six states of Australia. Sydney alone has a population of around 4.5 million people. I wouldn't think it's fair to refer to them as settlements. The majority of Australia is sparsely uninhabited due to worsening climates towards the central regions of Australia. The brunt of the population live  in coastal regions.

Australia has a population density of 3 people per 1km^2 ranking at 236th globally. Finland has a desnity of 16 per 1km^2, ranking at 204 globally. Finland has had European settlement since prehistory, Australia has only has two-hundred-and-twenty-four years of European settlement.

It's a known fact that Australia won the rights to use and maintain internet services throughout the country after defeating a coalition of champions from various countries in a hybrid between fist fighting, drinking and swearing. Bob Hawke, the current Prime Minster, was the selected Australian champion.

None of this helps the FSE team choose a server for Oceania.
 
Not really qualified with the whole server stuff, or useful things in general. Much better at writting joke posts.
 
I know the major Australian ISP fund some server providers which host the majority of the more popular multiplayer games out there. I'm not sure what the etiquette of a game developer apporaching such a service and requesting offical servers is, however.

Got two or three Aussie players in the SA forums who roll with us who'd love a nice Official run server for the region.
 
Internode is a very good server provider. They do most of the Oceania warband servers.

That's extreme...

Can't you ask the Games.on.net guys to start hosting some publics? they do that for Warband and WFAS as well.
The time zone difference is so messed up I didn't get a hold of them yet.
 
Best place to host would be by far Sydney, Australia. For one, most gamers in Australia come from Sydney due to it being the most populated city along with Melbourne. Sydney also has some of the best data centres in Australia and the current Aus_NW server is hosted in Sydney. Host in Sydney nuff said.
 
Also the AU community can easily fill a 100 slot server on a night, I remember seeing when Aus_NW (the only dedicated AU server which has 48 slots was full) their were another 4 Australian temp servers that ran on peoples ****ty pc's I counted the amount of players and their was atleast 40 people on other AU temp servers.
 
Well I don't know what to say in terms of a server provider, seems to be a bit of a monopoly going :sad:  but I thoroughly support the idea of an Official NW server in Aus and would be very thankful to you sirs if it could be made to happen.
