Why Bannerlord Voting is Broken, and How To Fix It

What is this upset subset player decal that everyone's spotting? I must have missed that meme.
TL;DR: People were complaining about how bad armor was. Callum said that a subset of players disliked armor, compared to those playing and enjoying the game. So Terco made a decal for people to display themselves as one of that subset. He also made a poll you may have seen, asking people whether they liked Bannerlord's armor/damage forumula, which had 99% in favour of "no".

With the 1.8 change, melee doing too much damage to armor has been fixed, which is good, but arrows doing way too much damage to armor - the main thing people were complaining about! - has still not been fixed, so there are still forum posters who would have a motivation to use that decal.

ah i see.

Thanks. I guess I'll need to add myself to that small subset of 99%.

I agree on Relationship stat being almost pointless same for the traits and voting bugs me . Traits should grant special actions like one on one duels or execution . Relations should offer actions like calling on a clan help for free if you had max relationship or if you where -100 that can would go for you specifically .Voting there should be a time to call other lords to a meeting to try and convince them to vote how you like before the main vote that goes for war and peace too. If you vote against the king or queen too often you risk lowering your relation and they could banish you and even declare you an enemy of the kingdom and then you may up for execution. This game as it is is very barebones almost skeletal . fight trade fight trade buy worksops no need to trade fight fight fight peace time wait wait wait. There needs to be more to do or bigger impact from actions. if not only mods will make it worth playing in the end maybe.

Anything that makes relations and personality traits more impactful in BL seems like a good idea. Especially if it also allows to the player to have more control in votes. So this seems like a great idea and I hope TW implements it.

Sure, they probably have their role and do their thing, in the same way everyone explains to me that spiders have a reason to be on this planet (still not sold on that). They add little to no value to me.
They eat insects. I don't know about you, but I would much rather have a spider in my room, who tend to just chill in a corner or their web anyway, than to be constanly harassed by mosquitoes, flies and other annoying insects.

i dont think a lord having good relations with you should mean that they automatically support your policy proposals. for example if you're trying to pass a policy and there's a lord who is fundamentally opposed to it but likes you, you should be able to choose whether or not to call in a favor and get them to vote differently, at the cost of some relation points. so if you keep calling in favors without improving your relations you will eventually fall out of the friendship zone and can't call in any more. this can also work for lords who both support your policy and like you, if you don't do anything they'll support it slightly but you can convince them to support it even more if you call in a favor from them

One of other problem of relation helping this kind of stuff is that I can literally raise my relation with some random clan without interacting them because of voting. Raising relation in Warband was a hassle and because of that by the end of the game I was starting to recognize the lords but in Bannerlord, I recognize just a few.

Well, they don't actually automatically support you in this suggestion. The way the suggestion is set out, lords are +1 more likely to support you calling a vote if you have good relations, but -1 less likely to support you calling a vote that they dislike (due to personality, being a vassal, etc). Those cancel each other out, meaning a lord will who likes you but doesn't like the vote will abstain.

They will not automatically support you if you merely have good relations- only if you have fantastic 70+ relations, which can take quite a while to grind even for one lord, and so should reward the player accordingly. And even in that scenario, if they love you but don't like the vote, they'll only give weak support (20 influence).

Relations in Warband was pretty big, enemy vassals who you are friends with never attacked you on the map or raided your villages, it also made it much easier to convince them to join your faction. Fellow friendly vassals are more likely to respond to your marshal summons or defend your fiefs if they are attacked. They were more likely to vote for you or vote with your decisions.
Also the AI's personality used to actually affect their actions.
Yup. Another meaningless "feature".
More like the rotting corpse of a feature left over from WB which was an actually complete game.

We are now past release and this broken core mechanic, plus the uselessness of relation, another core mechanic, have still not been addressed :party::party::party::party::party::party::party::party::party:
