Why are there so few maps?

The number of maps is really very very few, Everyone is bored of playing games on the same maps. siege tdm etc. 4 familiar maps, same thing for 2 years.. Is it really that hard to make a map?
please consider this..

they should open up all maps to TDM. It’s a simple rework of spawn locations. Most siege maps have loads of outside places that get neglected because G is inside. The battle maps go unused most of the week due to low population.
