Blimey.

That's not really true either. If people can't afford the good junk food then they would buy the cheaper off-brand junk food.Austupaio 说:Night Ninja 说:Junk food does tend to form a large proportion of the diet in lower-income families, so I wouldn't rule that out just yet.
Yeah, that's not really true. Lower classes have to rely on cheap food, in the states that's big bags of rice, bread, Ramen. Cheap pot-roast and so on.
I wasn't saying anything about intelligence of hobbits, just that out of my sample of tall people all are smart.Pharaoh Llandy 说:

Tibertus 说:You'll find wealthier families rely just as much on junk food for expediency. Due to both parents usually having jobs and the kids having a million and one after school activities they need to be rushed too. Also, coming from a lower income family early in my youth, we actually didn't eat junk food nearly at all. We had to rely on cheaper fresh foods, which turn out to be healthier, gasp!

Middle classes can afford to get the 'cool' food which is largely junk, go to fast food places all the time and generally just pig out. Meals will often consist of frozen food that's been popped in the microwave.
Oh and McDonalds.

Anecdotal evidence of exceptions really doesn't mean much, not unless your family is large enough to make a significant blip in the average sample size for a study.

Don't tell me, tell the people eating that food and the people funding the research.

JoePeasant 说:If it's UNM, NMT or NMSU, I would think that the height discrepancy is due to a higher number of Germanic whites and Hispanics on campus who can claim actual European heritage, mixed or direct. Europeans, at least according to Wikipedia, are taller on average than Americans and Mexicans. And I think you're confusing the Mexican and Spanish populations of the state.
Tibertus 说:Practical experience tells me that I can get a weeks worth of lunches at the local deli in cold cuts, bread, and veggies for the same price as four microwave meals or a couple bigmac meals. I also know that I can get several lbs of pasta for a couple bucks, and I can make my own gravy for real cheap. Hell, I know where to get these hand made breakfast rolls which are like a meat and vegetable stuffed ciabata roll, and they're a buck a pop. The point is, if you're poor, you know where to go.

It's probably like this:Tibertus 说:So, I wanna hear some responses from you, but I've found people who attend universities tend to be a few inches above the average. For instance, average height of women at my university is four inches over that of the state, and men range around two inches taller than the state average. I've heard the argument before that people tend to associate height with intelligence, so tall people will be pushed and given the resources more often to complete a post secondary education.
