I reported as a bug my recent experience with an Escort Caravan quest and a caravan that was 0.5 faster than I in open country. It rapidly pulled out of sight and I was only able to follow by targeting its destination... which it changed multiple times without actually entering any towns. @uçanbiblo suggested I post over here about it. Personally, I'd prefer they just take it as a bug and fix it. I was damn lucky to catch up with the caravan while it was under attack - it was down to 3 defenders left!
OK - my proposal is: RESTRICT THE DAMN CARAVAN'S SPEED TO EQUAL ITS PROTECTOR'S. Not so hard, is it?
Here I am, chasing a lightly-manned caravan moving at 5.2 when my own best speed is 4.7 (my party is under the caravan window, in same terrain).
And just to illustrate how stupid this quest was, here's its route at the time I abandoned it because my men had eaten all my food and were starving. Note that I got no credit for any of the destinations we nearly reached, because the DAMN CARAVAN chose to ignore trying to sell its wares and instead traipse off somewhere else.
