Funny enough, France is still the most visited country in the world
Yeah, so good it's traumatic!

Makes you wonder what happens when they try to visit Glasgae.

Thanks for prooving that what I wrote previously was the truth.
Um, actually he's Portugese IIRC....

They never make it to that god-forgotten ice-frozen Scot-populated (ew) wasteland and even more to their stronghold where they sacrifice the English to their Dark Gods and Popes. [/english rant]

heh an old one : Last Updated: Wednesday, 20 December 2006, 20:14 GMT

Oh those poor japanese disppointed that Paris isnt like in their Manga-dreams, ooh poor them

Besides, well, BBC=english=anti-french by definition.
next?

The lack of intelligence, xenophobia and ignorance has no frontiers...

A dozen repatriated for a million visitors ?

   0.0012 % Ridiculous and laughable part !

Yes, and a quite acceptable proportion to be honest
Though I am not a big Paris-fan even if french.
But I guess that it's pretty personal...

It's the fact that they claim culture shock induced trauma which gets me.

It's actually not the first time that has happened. I remember hearing there were whole clinics dedicated to taking care of hippies who went to India in search of a paradise, and went nuts when the reality didn't quite meet their expectations. Don't remember the name of the syndrome, which made googling for sources kinda difficult, but I doubt I could just come up with something like this on my own.

Edit: Oh, and yay for the french forum.

Well and even if I have a very high respect for japanese people (I even learnt japanese for 3 years at the university!), I think they are weird...
they live in a fantasy world. Some of them probably "dreamt" Paris before visiting it... you know, middle age cathedrals, cliché roads and such tourist thingies...
and the 1st thing they faced at the airport was a "north african" french hip-hop group...

Why do people think Paris is romantic. It's no more romantic than London or Rome. I'd prefer Rome.

Out of all three, I must say none are romantic. Big city and romantic just don't go together.

No wonder, India is the worst place that I ever visited, except for the Himalayas. The thing that annoyed me most there was actually the hippie-mindedness that remains in most of the tourism has there.

And what exactly do we need to qualify for a french forum?

Right now, I pretty much see Hallequin, Andre de Cuyne et I as rightful candidates.

I'm 23, and I've hang around there for a long time, only reading posts until recently (october 2006), when I wanted to dig a little further on that HYW mod with Gandalf. I haven't posted much, but I think my interventions were always appropriate. I'm not the average spammer, and I am keen on helping people in the community whenever I get the chance to.

I think André is very well quailifying for the job too, as he seems to also be a medieval afficionados and very helpful in creating interesting threads. I'd definately like to have Hallequin as part of the staff, too, since he's a dedicated member to this community.

An important issue about moderating is that the staff should be around at every hour - day and night. While it is impossible for someone to do so, I do believe it would be useful to have moderators speaking french as a first language, covering a wide time zone span. Me hailing from Québec, and André from France, should cover that.

Well, I guess this is pretty much my argumentation, now it's up to admins to judge if we're worthy. But I can't help thinking of how not having a french board looks incomplete at best for this community.

Ooops sorry I accidentally voted Definitely NO!..... I didn't mean to, and you can't change votes. I'm in the "don't care" section because I only know the french for "Guinea Pig".

Hehe, no worries mate. Even with your mistake-vote, the "yes" leads clearly with 11+11=22, vs only 8 strict "no".
It's now up to the admins/moderators to decide... but the people has spoken ^^

Add to your french knowledge "I love you" and you can combine the two into a wonderful and so cute "I love you, my guinea pig"
(which can be, seriously, quite romantic... if you know the girl well, of course. I just hope for you that she doesnt look live a real guinea pig though  )

Amicalement,
Draksen

@Haupper:

As André isnt always at home and/or active on the forum, I could help if you need one more moderator.
I have experience in site administration and forum moderation, which can help.
And I think that as a 34 yo guy I am already quite mature (except when I play the game  )
I live in Finland (GMT+2) but french from Honfleur-Le Havre.

Seriously, I would love a french forum! I'm english but I speak very good french too. I know a few french poeple who played/were interested in playing mount and blade. And I also showed it to a couple of mates in france who were put off by the fact that the game has no french mod/no french forum. I think it would open up a large new market to have a french version of M&B (unofficial or official) especially with the growing interest in action/adventure games and RPGs in France.

I cannot moderate or manage a French forum at the time ; I'm too busy...

But I'm still looking for someone who could help me translating the game, please

Awesome!
Your post is so optimistic, friendly and refreshing, wow... thanks!
As the 100 years war is over, our English friends are more than welcome in the future french forum

I can help if you want. And I think André did it already, or at least a part of it.
Ask him about it

I voted no because I dont like the Language itself.
But if there are enought French members in the forum, then yeah, bring it on!
As long as they dont speak french in the public forums.
