Well, I searched for it but couldn't find anything about this (but I'm sure they're a few of topics about it), so i opened a new topic. It will be about the question which weapons you like and especially why you like these weapons. (You can also wirite in this topic which weapons you really hate!  )

I'm going to start: My favourite weapon is the heavy bastard sword (Thats the English name, isn't it?  ), because I think it's good to have a weapon that you can use 1-handed and 2-handed. Normally I use it in combination with a steelshield and some heavy throwing axes and when i'm mounted i have a heavy lance, too (I even think it's a bit useless but it looks cool  ). In addition, I hate every sort of polearms (but not the lances, I love them, because it's an epic picture to see your caracter riding into a group of some enemies).

Now, it's your turn! Tell me which weapons you love (or even not) and why!

I dont know if it is best but for me it is and coolest weapon at the same time... Morningstar! Enough reach to use from horseback and nice piercing damage. It is little slow when i use it as 1-handed but still, it looks too cool to be replaced with any other weapon  used as 2-handed it is a monster in siege.

I agree with the Morningstar, it has a nice range from horseback and pretty much chews through anything in its path especially with its ability to crush through blocks. The piercing damage helps a lot too, so even higher tier troops can't stop you. I love the look of the scimitars also, they can be deadly against lightly armoured troops from horseback.

My three favorite weapons, since I just can't limit myself to one, would be the long war axe, the bastard sword, and the war spear.

The long war axe is a good combo of power, reach, and speed. The bastard sword is a fast and powerful weapon that can also be used with a shield for approaching archers. The war spear is a fantastic 2h weapon and can also be used with a spear for supporting allies.

My speech is my favorite weapon

As it is the most powerful one of all...
Well spoken, John! lol

My favorite weapon would be the Great Sword. It's a weapon I happen to be really good with.

I've always liked scimitar (animation look extremely elegant with the blade curving around your shoulder imo and it's the best 1h in game), spears and spiked club.

I have many favorites, as I like to keep my training up in 1h, 2h, and polearm.

1h: Scimitar: No thrust, which I like, and 36c from a 1h!
2h: Morningstar, War Cleaver and Mace. Puncture, Cut, Bash for 3 times the fun.
Pole-arm: Awlpike. Fast for a pole-arm, allows for lots of stabby on retreating foes.

Damn, I'm not really sure. My top 5 would have to be:
1. War Spear
2. Glaive
3. Pike
4. Short Arming Sword
5. Javelins

Not in a very specific order.

I like the nomad bow barbed arrows a scimitar and a Kite sheild (that someone brought me)

although if plowdozer counts as a weapon i definatley choose him (that is BrC plowdozer and there is a hint in the name)

The pick and its variations are easily some of my favourites.  Alongside the Vaegir winged mace thing, the pick is one of the only weapons I...pick... practically every time I play.  Since I go unarmoured or lightly armoured, the piercing damage's armour neutralization is very nice.  Speed ain't too bad either.

For melee on foot or horseback, any kind of straight sword, which has good reach and damage (30+, 100+), coupled up with a steel shield (thanks to it's durability). Light Lance for general domination on the battlefield from horseback, which I swap for a heavy lance once my agility and polearm proficiency are good enough. I'm also very keen on horse archery, with my preferred bow being the Warbow, which is basically a very sleek design of upgraded longbow, which can be used while mounted.

In general, I don't use 2h weapons, as in Native Warband they are quite useless ... amount of damage you can dish out with 1h swords (which are fastest, have longest reach and can thrust) to plate-armoured opponents is so ridiculous, that it is pointless to compromise either your attack speed, weapon reach or ability to thrust, just to deal a little bit more damage, crack a shield faster or knock down a foe. For similar reasons I don't use crossbows, because they're unwieldy (long reload time, can't move & reload at the same time) and their damage output per shot is lower than that of experienced archer (what is also nonsense ...).

I've never been a fan of thrown weapons, because their usefulness on the battlefield is very short-lived, it's hard to aim with them and bows easily outperform them both for damage-over-time and total damage, not to mention range, accuracy and an easy time increasing your bow proficiency.

I agree with most of your post but surely the great swords have the advantage in reach over one handed swords and especially with their high damage swing and thrust?

Me too the scimitar is beautiful esepcially as you say when it curves over your shoulder, its great to use from horseback and the range is very deceptive, can catch people out in MP a lot.

I compared 1h sword to other 1h weapons. The versatility 1h sword gives, along with sufficient power, is usually enough to favour it over any 2h weapon, when you combine 1h sword with decent shield. The only scenario when 2h weapon might be moderately useful, is for dedicated foot/horse archer looking for ways to increase his ammo while he is in action, without the need to withdraw from the fight to access storage stash. It is a double-edged sword, though, because without a shield and close to the enemy, you deprive yourself of potential life-saver, what puts even more priority on high athletics and good blocking & dodging skills. I believe that in overall, 1h sword coupled up with shield is superior, whereas 2h weapons have a very narrow niche, such as siege defense (thanks to one & only ladder to the top, which you camp with overhead spam).
