I'm curius, which save mode do you guys prefer in M&B. I just got the game and started out playing where you can quit without saving, but I found myself loading my save every time i lost a battle or messed up a quest or anything, and it sort of ruined the gaming experience, so now i started playing realistic mode and i like it a lot more. So i'm curius which one do you guys all play.

I play on realistic too because it's just a lot simpler than worrying about saving/loading if you screw up. On the other hand, this means everytime I completely screw up a character I have to start a new one, and I have yet to create a character that lives past level 20

I prefer the 'allow me to quit without saving' because the autosave on 'realistic' doesnt seem to work for me, and I just hit escape and save every battle or long run, it only takes a fraction of a second to save anyways

I play "realistic", because I know that otherwise I will be reloading the game every time I feel something's not going perfectly.

In defense of saving without exiting, I play the game to try and fulfil an ideal with my characters. It takes a while, but I try to work them to a certain point where I can sit back and grin, knowing they're now what I envisioned, and enjoy the combat as a dramatic almost movie-like moment, rather then a bunch of pixels on the screen. If I have to play it realistic, it seems more like going up an uphill treadmill to get him to where I want. The main character doesn't die because of a lucky Javlin to the head in any movie -I've- seen.

i prefer realistic. I'm only going to save the game when the day is up. Which means i'll be quiting the game too.

Exit without saving. I have a couple bugs (a very odd visual one, and one where my guy will sometime turn... hmm, by angles, so if I move the mouse a bit, he won't turn, then all at once, he'll turn 30°) that forces me to leave the game. I don't want to be penalized because of that.

realistic. yea my character has run into a cpl huge setbacks after getting completely hijacked after a losing battle but i still have managed to get him to the lower 30s and plan to continue playing him. i find it more rewarding and less tedious than simply reloading a game each time a battle doesnt go the way i want.

Played to level 20 or so on quitting without saving, my army of knights made me pretty much invincible by then.

Decided to go though again on realisitc mode, and all went well except for two heavy setbacks

1) Left marnid on his own with a bunch of militia. Came back some time later to see him in a battle. Went to stock up and help, but marnid was no more...

but still, he's not very useful anyway

2) Just got attacked by the black riders (or whatever they happen to be called). I leave my men behind, knowing I'm capable of taking out most of them on my own. What happens? Not only do I get taken out in one hit, but my spirited charger gets crippled! ARGH! Now I'm stuck with no money and urgently needing a new horse!

Marnid and Borcha can actually die? I've seen them knocked out so many times, including times when I've accidentally shot them in the back of the head with a crossbow bolt, I just assumed they were immortal.

Anyway, I currently favor Realistic mode for two reasons.

1. I occasionally get CTDed, and that would totally ruin my day if I hadn't remembered to save recently. Realistic mode's frequent autosaves make this a non-issue.

2. I'd like the challenge of having to start again from scratch if things went badly, my troops were slaughtered in battle and all my stuff was stolen. The game's too easy if you never put anything at risk, and since it seems possible to recover from any hardship -- even if it means fighting in the arena again and betting on yourself so you can afford goods to trade -- I figure it's another way to keep the game interesting.

Heroes are indeed immortal. That's why they serve as my disposable cannon fodder.

I can freely shoot into any melee they are having since getting them shot isn't a big deal.

I play in the realistic mode as well. Considering you can't actually die, I thought it might help to keep the game challenging. I do, however, think that the ability to exit without saving should be retained in the final game. It's always best to give people options. Games are supposed to be fun, and different things are fun for different people.

Before I used to play in realistic mode, but since I startedhaving the damn "crash computer bug", I started saving without having to exit, since in that way I manage to make 5 or 6 consecutive saves and then leave. I record those saves and when I play again... if something goes wrong I still have 5 other chances it will still work.

 once it only worked at the 5th try (I was getting worried, lol - lvl 21 char, wich i was specially fond of)

Oh well... cheers

Yeah me too. I can't remember the last time i lost a battle though. I too on some dark knights last night and pwned'em. I had about 20 knights myself and i done most of the fighting.

i spend most of my time modding so, and to test it i have to start a new game, and because i never restore the game again so i lay quiting without saving.
