Which Order to establish?

Alright, I'm at a point where I'm at least ready to join an order, which I've decided will be the Shadow Legion (mostly because of their badass armor). There's already a chapter in Cez. Guess we'll see how it goes.

You also need to take the Order Sergeant units into account as well; The vanilla SL Marines are also arrow sponges, so I myself took the pole-hammer away and gave them a sword/shield+ throwing spears setup.

They are bad on purpose for balancing reasons, otherwise there would be no choice at all.

To be fair, it's not really a big deal. He turned it from "Empire Halberdier, SL sergeants" to "Legionaire, Mortal, SL sergeant" in most cases, and in the case of the renown quest you would rather have the sponges, it's very hard to find enough parties in the time allowed if you are hauling around infantry that you're not really going to use in a fight anyway. Can't order your troops to lower their shields..

Now, if we're on the subject of changing SL sergeants.. I would like to see the marines as more nautical. Light armour for agile troops, bow and arrows to shoot fire on an enemy ship, shield to protect against an arrowstorm, and axes to cut ropes and boarding lines (a sword just isn't the right tool for that job.). The Centurions you meet in the tavern talks about keeping up traditions.

If the dev team runs out of ideas I would love to see that idea realised.

Just out of curiosity, what's the difficulty/workload on making actual flaming arrows? Probably a source code thing..

The Silvermists are nice. Even if you go with Fierdsvain, so long as you fight Ealdred then you can capture lots of Pendor Black Archers. I think there is a Ravenstern lord who has Black Archers as well. I know he's got Silvermist Archers but I haven't figured out which one yet.

And Pendor Man at arms can be trained up from farmers and militia.

Also, you can create your own order and it will change the required troop based on which faction you belong to.

There are no Ravenstern lords with Black Archers.

Does Alderian have the KO in his fief as well? I should go check. I could have been doing Silvermist quests from the start.

The bad thing about Alderian having SMA is that when I upgrade the KO in Laria I am also upgrading his Silvermist Rangers.

Mybe some lord changed faction to Ravenstern.
I've fought Raventern lord and he had about 40 Black archers.Needless to say my 200 ROCC with 560 archery cleaned them in one minute

Funnily enough, his fief of Senderfall can start with a chapter of the Knight of Ebony Gauntlet even though he fields Silvermist Rangers.

Interesting. That prompts the question, can I join one order and establish a different one in my fief? Or will I be limited to establishing the order of which I'm a member?

You can establish as many orders as you want as long as you meet the requirements and have the fiefs to put them in. They don't need to be the same order as the one you joined. You can still do quests for non-member orders except for the tournament quest
