Which is the best husband (yes you read well) in the game?

Sergeant
I am asking because for the first time i am playing a women (a pretty one) . Anyway who do you think is the best husband for her? I guess some lord who can give me (because i can take his troops, right?) special troops, but who?

I think it depends on where you are and what you're after. I'd personally take one of the Lords of the large cities as a husband, because they're generally more powerful, and may even have both unique troops and a Knightly Order at their disposal. As to which is the best? I cannot say.

The trouble there is that the lords of large towns are (always?) already married.  Latest playthrough is as a female, still haven't found any bachelor with a walled fief willing to wed.

Yes, i hadent thought about it but i guess you are right. What about one of my companions? Some suitable husband? Perhaps Frederick of Mettenheim? Iirc he comes with special troops and it is noble, so i can land him without penalties.l Leth would also be good. A Noldor marrying a human would be awesome¡. Uniting all the Pendor races and not just the land¡. That makes for good role playing. What do you think?

Full approval!  Please make Pendor ruled by a dynasty of half-elves with the Silvermist your royal order

Yes. The Silvermists and the Griffins. Both orders. By the way, how do I marry him? Are poems needed?

No poems needed just talk to him and use the dialog "I'd like to ask you something".

Also since you are playing as a female character you can try with Boadice:

I tried this, as I felt it fitting to have a gay character, but I didn't even have the dialogue option to suggest marriage. =[

If you want, I think it might be possible to take a town, and then ask for it to be given to your husband (helps if he doesn't have a fief and you are at good relations with the lords; you can use them to take the town, then quickly run around and ask them all to support your choice).

Alternatively, prepare for Armageddon and get one with a castle that is really hard to take. Because you don't pay for the garrison upkeep, you can use it to store massive amounts of elite troops. Or just a castle next to the town you intend to make CKO in, so that if/when you rebel you can make use of it easily to reinforce. If you stack his castle with thousands of huscarls no one will attack it, I think...

But you may drive yourself to poverty training all those huscarls. I find it easiest to let my lord husband deal with quality while I provide him a huge quantity of recruits fresh from the village. I'm fairly certain the AI cares about sheer numbers more than type when it comes to sieges.

It's not too bad, you can stop whenever you want and just chuck everything in the husband's castles; that's what paying no upkeep gets you. Having a bottomless pit with 10,000 huscarls and 1,000++ knights is handy.

It's just a grinding thing. You can end up with 100,000 recruits (or even 100,000 armored axemen, they are easy to get using Training). It's just a matter of making the money, which is pretty easy.

Usually I just carry around a bunch of Fierdswain guys with me, upgrade them to armored axemen and keep them like it until I am near his castle, then I upgrade as many as I can and jam all the AA+Huscarls in. Money is less of an issue than the annoyance of carrying around 20 to 50+ infantry (slows you down)

Pretty sure Fred is a commoner....according to wiki

You could do a real Scrooge run by putting your expensive troops in your husband's garrison always by the end of the week. When the wages have been paid then just take them back

I thought the game actually checked what you have more frequently than the once a week thing. Not Native, but I think PoP had something to prevent that sort of "savings".

*sigh* Can't find anyone in Sarleon that is willing to marry

I thought he was a noble, with that moustache . Anyway, I am fixed on Leth. Free Noldor troops can be really handy

I will be interested to find out how this works for you. As far as I know pop takes the native approach to romancing your companions. And if so then that means pretty much you can't marry them. But i have played some mods where you can so it will be good to now if pop is another one of those.

I am pretty sure you can marry companions in POP. And i think Leth gets Noldor troos as special troops so... Anyway, as soon as i can get rid of the two wars i am figthing i will get on the marry bussiness. These things require some peace. I am thinking about going to some strange mines i have been told about for honeymoon.

How willing to marry you each unmarried lord is is randomized; just keep spamming new games until one of them says some sleazy line like "I'll remain your most ardent admirer" every time you leave, and kill a few villagers for him like the hopeless romantic you are.

I personally like the Empire lord that gets Almerra Castle, as Almerra is the best castle to wait out armies with your husband's home-grown 20,000 Huscarls. Bar none.
