Which horses can plow through the enemy?

Does anyone know which horses plow through the enemy? I think all warhorses & chargers do...but my character is a horse archer & Id like to stay with a courser if I can. Does a heavy courser or a hunter have this ablility?

Since I prefer wearing leather armour, and my horse is lightly armoured (spirited courser), I am easily killed if I stop at any time during a battle. If the enemy has a shield, I will usually side-swipe them to lower their defenses...but I often misestimate (?) and hit the pirate head-on. My strength is my mobility, and once Im stopped...well, it gets ugly.

So before I go and waste my denars to try out each horse, I was wondering if some of you had already figured this out. And if only the warhorse & the charger can plow through the enemy, will a heavy courser have this ability in a future update?

edit: made it more readable :)

Well, i don't think its so much as the horses "ability" to plow through the enemy. It seems dependent on the horses charge ability, AND its velocity. If you're riding a charger up a hill, and hit someone at the top while barely moving, you'll stop. Likewise, if you're on a hunter and rush down a hill to hit someone at the very bottom while traveling much faster velocity, you'll plow through them. But overall, the only two horses capable of this on a normal basis (i.e. charging on open plains) are the warhorse and charger. And statwise, there really is no downside to a spirited charger, its the best horse in the game. A spirited courser has 11 speed and 11 maneuverability, while the charger has 10 speed and 11 maneuv, but the charger also has a TON more armor and an insane charge. And 1 speed isn't a big difference...just go with the charger.

Thank you for explaining that. :D

I really like the charger's stats, but I look out of place on a plate-armoured horse. The white horse - leather armour combo just looks so cool hehe. But Ill probably go with the charger since I keep getting fonged by forest bandits...and Im at level 25.

BTW, do riding & manueverability bonuses from the riding skill change the stats of the horse you are currently riding or is it an "invisible bonus"?

Its an invisible bonus. The stats on the horse itself are static, and just increased by your riding skill based on a percentage i believe. Though i have no idea how much each riding level helps.

It does look a little strange to have the heavily armored horse going twice as fast as the light horse archer.... :P

But I have 2 spirited chargers, they work great. They are fast, strong, and deadly, just an unbeatable combo.

Yes, it's difficult to determine how your riding skills affects the horse's stats and I'm trying to notice the difference by using different characters on the same mounts.

As for the charging ability of different horses, it does appear dependent on your horse's velocity but all of them can interfere with an enemy's attack.

Examples: An allied footman is fighting two bandits, your "spirited hunter" races past knocking both bandits swings giving the footman a little breather without taking away his chance for experience.

Galloping my charger ahead of my party, I rundown several pirates for 5-10 charging damage points each, softening them up for my troops.

In any case, one can simply experiment by buying a steppe pony or saddle horse and trying to see if these lighter mounts can do so. Which I haven't done yet but now that I think about it, I will!

If your desperate to ride a white horse and still have the stats of a charger you can edit the C:Program FilesMount&BladeDataitem_kinds1.txt file. Change the line that reads:
charger charger 4096 0 128 3 14119 8448 487196932 6031360 to
charger courser 4096 0 128 3 14119 8448 487196932 6031360
This simply changes the image for the charger to that of the courser. If you do decide to do this make sure you back up item_kinds1.txt first though.
Note: This changes the pictures of all the chargers to that of the courser, not just yours.

I don't think it is strange at all that a big heavy charger with plate would run the fastest. By nature horses are not warlike, they are timid and won't even jump over a hill if they can't see the other side. That's why a knight's warhorse is so expensive, they need to be trained a lot. For several years. And I learned that from watching "The Six Million Dollar Man."

Hey thanks everybody. :D Even though the charger is the best horse, it somehow doesnt feel right riding it. Maybe its the plate armour or something. And if I mod the skins I will always have in the back of my mind the thought that this is actually a charger. So anyway I went back to my spirited courser and I think Ill stay with it. Its more challenging and therefore more fun...and thats what this game is all about. Besides, if I ride a charger I might as well get better armour, and I want to stay light. Heres two pics of me...I think the courser looks a lot better:

This is unbelievable!  He is either extremley idiot or is brave enough to do stupid things that would cause an angry mobs against him...! And yes I agree with these people, I ask of you to stop bring an ancient posts into this forum, since it is arleady answered over many times.  It is very not cool thing to do...
