Which Game should I start with?

Hello everyone, my first post and I hope this is the relevant forum.

Since Steam had a 75% off special for the Mount and Blade pack I thought I'd buy it since I quite liked the demo for Warband the other day. I would like to know which game would be the best to start off with just to learn and become experienced with. More importantly, I would like to know the opportunities of gameplay there are with this pack of games. Is it simply single player and multi player campaigns/battles for each game is there a to more to it, such as co-op gameplay, clan activities and creative mods, etc?

The worse thing ever is to be put off by a game and not realise its full potential.

Thanks

Well of course warband, all warband is, is like a Major patch to Mount&Blade so pretty  much everything is the same just better.

My suggestion? Get Warband and With Fire and Sword, but ignore the latter for the immediate time being. Play through Warband, enjoy the Vanilla experience, then about 11-12 hours in, switch to WF&S. Play through that one, enjoy the experience for about 5-6 hours (That's when it started to dry up for me ) then download one of the many WB mods. Then, just play Warband with mods, because they are amazingly fun. Here's my personal favorites:

- Native Expansion (Basically what the title says, a much more expanded and refined game than Native. Not too difficult, really.)
- Brytenwalda (I haven't played it yet, but from what I've heard it is a realistic and fun mod.)
- Prophesy of Pendor (Be careful with this one- it is an amazing but very difficult mod that has a lot of new features.)

Those, and Sword of Damocles. Epic map, epic factions and you get to be one of his few beta followers.

For the best feel though, start with the regular M&B, play through native, then play native expansion and sword of damocles for it, then switch to WB, play native, go to play it's mods, get mm russia 3 and full invasion for WB , then if you like them switch to WFaS

For nostalgia.

And because some of the really really good mods haven't been (properly) ported over yet to WB.

Start with playing Warband, keep playing Warband, ignore With Fire and Sword. Mount&Blade original's obviously a good game, but I don't see why you'd play it when you have Warband available.

Old M&B has better mods in my opinion, Custom Settlements, Revenge of the Berserk, etc. although better ones for Warband will appear in time.

And Warband has multiplayer .

The released mods are here: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,165.0.html

For multiplayer/clan activities, check the stickies and sub forums in the Guildhall.

is Warband really all that better than Wfas? I prefer guns and grenades to crossbows and bows. and the cities look a bit bigger don't they?  plus I'm not familiar with the Warband faction system; i was walking around swadia at the beginning of the game and then suddenly 80 knights decide to pounce on me and imprison me because they don't know me

Grenades cannot be balanced. Play mount and musket instead. 100% BETTER firearms than in WFaS, and the whole mod is centerer around gunpowder. You even have cannons there.

Right, so mods of Warband do what WFaS tries anyway. I see it now. Do most mods that change gameplay also come with lovely modded graphics, or can I get them separately?

Kids these days and their short attention spans. You need to multiply those figures by 5 at least.

Agree with Madoc but i personally am a multiplayer guy, so i have played single player really only in Mount&Blade and Warband Beta. So i say play Warband get good, join a clan and just have fun.

Answer to your question, start with Warband and attempt to never finish it... burn WFaS in the process...

I got the same thing a couple months ago
Started in order, with Mount&Blade first.
I loved it and wouldn't sway you away from doing that first.

I did Warband, and it had everything you wished Mount&Blade had.
Haven't done Fire and Sword yet, but I definitely will be playing Warband a lot more, even after "completeing" the game after 200 hours

Yeah I'd start with M&B if you have both of them  Just cause you have it! Then you can find a reason to start a new character you want to play, on Warband, while having new experiences. But if you are looking to buy one or the other, do Warband for sure.

Playing both will let you have multiple play thrus on different characters, without repeating content.
