So I understand the Nords are norse, like Vikings.

The Khanate seem to resemble Mongols.

The Swadians remind me of what I'd imagine most French, English, etc the more civilized medieval cultures would be

What are the rhodoks?  Vaegirs?  And i think im forgetting one :smile:

The nords are the best ones!! They are a nord like me! And the use axes and throws axes and killing whit axes and do all the axe things!

that changes actually, today Tatars are called as Turkics...their roots are very confusing.A mixture of Turkics and Mongols..either way both are relatives

Tatars aren't the same as Tartars.

Tatars are a separate tribe, while "Tartar" was a term used by Europeans to refer primarily to the Mongols but also to other nomad groups...

That's how I understood it anyway.

So how did a landlocked culture manage to come up with a sauce that's so damn good with fish?

The chinese were the most civilized, and arabs were also more civilized than europeans.

The chinese are over rated. Everyone likes to brag about how privative the Europeans were, but I say they weren't that bad off.

It's primitive, and yes, it's not that unbalanced. I mean, we weren't cannibals!  :razz:

Civlisation is perhaps the wrong word, though in terms of technological advancement this statement is mostly true for the period.

Wow. Go away.

Rhodcoek? Or whatever... =o?

=p ehr... They wield spears and crossbows... ? ...they get screwed by all? =o  ... i don't want them in my party... o=

Ah, Yes... Vihjalmr had a nice word about them.

Vilhjalmr 说:
... No one really knows what the Rhodoks are, but they use spears, and ride no horses.

Our experts' best guess is that they are from the moon.

Frking peasants that will not survive calradia when the siege/eliminate faction feature comez out and are right now just taking valuable space...  :eek:

Hmm, I've been thinkin...about the factions,
I always thought that the Swadians are french since, They keep loseing battles against me and surrendering when im only lvl 29.
I also thought that Veagirs are Like the british since they are A-holes to me (they beat me and take all my money).
THe Rhodoks are like the Scottish cause 1. they wear paint on there faces 2. They are rebels(i think) and 3. they just remind me of the scottish. and the Nords are just Nords and The kerghit just sound like some middle eastern desert type people. So lets not debate over these factions any more ok?

Possibly the most incorrect and misguided post ever.  I really don't know where to begin.
So I won't.

Honestly, the Rhodoks remind me of the Picts, or maybe the Welsh.  As I recall the Picts had crossbows, though obviously not crossbowmen clad in kettle helmets and brynies.

Rhodok = Greek (Reminds me of the whole hoplite thing)
Nords = Norse
Swadians = French
Veagir = Kevian Rus
Khergit = Mongolian

Like some people have said they seem tribal too me.  They don't have horses, good armor, or even good weapons ... just simple spears and crossbows.  Crossbows don't take any skill compared too bows.  They're definitely not just defending themselves, I've noticed they're pretty aggressive so I'm guessing they're supposed too be some kind of primitive tribal faction out for loot and women.

As far as who they resemble in history ... possibly some primitive tribe from the edges the steppes migrating into eastern Germany ... not exactly a steppe tribe with horse archers and all that, but they definitely know how too defend themselves from the cavalry types: an absolute must for a steppe tribe.
Maybe ... just maybe we'll see them get some sort of war wagons or something ... and pavises for the crossbowmen! that would be sweeeeeeet.  :cool:

Crossbow were a rather high-tech weapon in the antique/medieval period. They don't take skill to use, but require far more technical expertise than self bows to craft - most had composite or metal bow and the trigger assembly takes some serious craftmanship to build. According to wikipedia, the classic english longbow coudl be crafted in a single day - the tricky bit being to get the right wood and have it properly dried. Crossbows were sort of an ancestor of the muskets - weapons that were effective without needing much training, the perfect thing for part-time soldiers.

Their heavy reliance on crossbows would make them a definitvely urban culture, more urban mlilitias than nomadic tribes (I can't remember a nomadic culture that used crossbows) . Sort of a medievalized declination of the french revolution's conscription armies - relying on numbers and easy to use weapons to win the day agaisnt the professional soldiery.

HE.. French! Thats funny, well i agree with rhodoks being greek, khertig being mongolian, and nords, norse, but its the big swadiian vs vaegiar thing, who are they? Well maybe they made it up or well maybe we should check history! I dont know??
