I am curious which faction people think will do the best in the campaign mode.

I would also really like to hear your arguments since I haven't really made up my mind myself. One thing I have noticed is that the Aserai start with only two neighbors, while the others start with 4/5(the Khuzaits start with 3).So if the troops are balanced enough, will the Aserai dominate most of the times?

Assuming that factions have been balanced so that after 200 years in the game, political map would resemble the map of Warband, which means Khuzaits are supposed to roll down deep into Empire territories. I want Western Empire to perform best, but i don't think TW set things down like that, because there were no Empire left in Warband.

From what I have seen in the multiplayer Vlandia is well balanced but Empire's unites are beating Vlandians tho Empire is in a civil war and due to that I think they will be busy weakening each other SO VLANDIA FTW ?

Geographically, Vlandia's position seems strong to me. Plenty of their land has a secure rear at the coast. Unless they wage too many wars at once and stretch themselves too thin, they should do well.

And if things are kept like we saw them at Gamescom, they also start at war with Battania, which seems like the weakest faction if you ask me.Yeah,Vlandia should do well if they don't get carried away with too many wars (they do have 5 neighbors,so we will probably see that happening from time to time).

I just remembered that their dev blog said that Vlandia would be prone to infighting under a "world-weary" king. That is likely the way to balance their other advantages.

I know for a fact from inside information and due to my highly educated expertise in The area and with extreme professionalism within this topic that i can say with Great confidence that Western empire Will rule calradia.

... Because that is the faction I will play ?

I feel Aserai will have the best overall situation. They have an inhospitable homeland that will be difficult to encroach upon, which means they can focus a bit more on projecting their power outward than other factions. They also have access to mounted skirmishers - uniquely, as far as I'm aware - which will be brutal opponents for the northern shield walls. The sole reason I rate them above Vlandia is that Vlandia is said to be prone to infighting, and Sunzi said when your enemy is arguing from within, they are weak. I couldn't put the Empire here either simply because it's hard to call any one faction having an advantage over the others, but whichever manages to re-unify the Empire, I'd put them on par with Aserai for versatility and infrastructure.

I seen only the subfaction troop tree which Is very strange: tons of cavalry, One foot archer and zero infantry.

The wiki claims they'll have an infantry line that eventually upgrades to cavalry, though I'm not sure where their information came from. And of course, you can always dismount your cavalry to have them serve as infantry! Not that the AI will necessarily do this, of course.

I would say Vlandia probably performs the best, I would say the Empire has a better troop tree but it’s in the middle and all three of them are likely to declare war on each other, and Vlandia although also suffering from infighting has a pretty good troop tree otherwise and has the advantage of better positioning.

I also don’t have a particularly solid line of reasoning for this but I feel that Battania is going to be everyone’s punching bag.

P.S. Do factions start at war now? I thought that it would be up to chance (with certain outcomes much more likely, like Warband)?

I saw a map that suggested they did, but I'm not sure if it was just theory or what. I also know someone in another thread was talking about how two of the Imperial factions start at war with eachother, but the Southern Empire is at peace with both.

I think Sturgia will have a really hard time staying cohesive, since it's very easy to cut it in half, just capture any city or castle in the middle..

According to the lore, Batannian and Empire will be completely wiped off the map. And sturgia will be split in half(vaegir and nords) Vlandia will also be split in hal(rhodoks and Swadians) So my ranking would be:
1)Khuzait/Aserai
2)Vlandia/Sturgia
3)Batnian/Empire

Level will be more important than real troop value. So all faction could perform quite good and their victory being more a matter of good luck (backstabbing someone already at war on many fronts, then finishing his enemies).

Battania 2019 troop tree seems very bad: zero archers. They get both a spear infantry and a infantry with javelins, shield and short weapon. Archers only among nobles. Also the cavalry is still weak but they get it from tier 4 while they could have an early weak cavalry in 2018 troop tree.
Maybe being tribal will have as many nobles as standard troops? It would be very strange to be out...bowed by other factions since they are supposed to be already outhorsed.

Empire won't have cavalry with shield on base tree. They will use their horse archers that have a spear too so charging archers will be risk. Their equites have a shield and I suspect that is the weakest of the noble troops that will evolve in cataphract and lose the shield since evolving a noble cavalry without shield could be difficult when armor is weaker, otherwise the equites could be a noble troop of the subfaction of legion of betrayed. Anyway their legionary seems more armored to other basic infantry so despite the description of being well rounded empire seems to have very strong infantry and the advantage of having both archers and crossbowmen while they lack a proper melee cavalry.

Aserai is a mistery....seriously the wiki says 2 melee cavalry, 1 horse archers and 1 foot archer but that is the khul slave special troop.

Sturgia basic spearman will lose the spear and get the longaxe, seems nearly as armored as the empire counterpart and their berserker will be very strong since there is the old video of cutting two horses in one attack. They also have huskarls as noble troops that defeated triari (the elite foot troop of legion of betrayed) and I guess some heavy noble cavalry. Archer will be their weak point but at least they upgrade the hunter. Bringand won't be an option but only a passage to get your medium cavalry.

Vlandia seems to have a solid troop tree and a great noble troop tree. They lack rate of fire because no archers (only their Robin Hood subfaction will get them).

Khuzait troop tree feature very well armored horse archers and also they get heavy cavalry in their basic tree, so if you want to go Swadian massing knights you can use khuzait and mass heavy lancers. Their infantry seems good too while their archer seems less armored than Vlandian or Empire

does your wall of text even matter since npcs will fight anyway as "autoresolve"?

When the AI is halfways good, Aserai will dominate since they only have to defend two chokepoints, east and west of the sea. To enter the lands of the Camel drivers you always have to pass those two chokepoints.

Yeah mostly autoresolve, but in battle real value will have impact as well unless the player Is just a merchant.

I don't know if supply lines and cutting a faction in two will have a realistic impact.

Cavalry heavy Khuzait armies should be good at chasing down weaker prey and running away from a superior enemy. Sweep through the enemy lands, raid their economy to the ground while making lots of money, crush the weakened enemy. Unless they make a bad mistake such as committing to a fight they will lose, I see them doing quite well.

I think Sturgia but might as well be the Aserai if is anything like the Warband, both factions are at the edges of the map so treats can only be unidirectional. I think that the Western Empire would be the most disadvantaged as every faction borders 4 other factions except them, they border 5.
