So I have a couple Norse characters I been leveling up. One is doing the story line and one the sand lot. So which Faction/Kingdom is everyone attacking and capturing first? Looking for tips and tactics for the VC DLC.

Going after Friese first can be a good strategy. Not that many lords and once you conquer it all, it can become very prosperous, especially Dorestad. From there you can recruit a large army and get a few lords and attack east engle or danmark. Other good targets are (I forgot exact spelling) gwyssling and brychienog. Something like that. Both are weak and you can gain 2 towns and a couple castles easy. Only problem with that is then being surrounded by powerful factions. That's why I usually go for Friese.

As with all Warband games, I start in a corner of the map and work my way across..This gives you more options when defending, instead of getting attacked on all sides all at once...If you begin somewhere in the middle of the map you are in all sorts of trouble.....

Yeah, I'm thinking Friese is a good kingdom to start with. Then work north into Danemark and Norway. Then go over to Britain or Ireland. Still building a viking army in Britain first. What size army is everyone using when they go after the big cities? My enemies have at least 300 men in their towns and forts it seems. I figure I need to match them. I know the AI can be beaten with less but I figure if I match them that gives me some extra to garrison after capture. New to VC so not sure if the same applies to it as regular Warband.

Men die much more easily than in native (this goes for AI and you. Easier to attack from sea if you can too. I do not think Dunstadt can be attacked by sea but Ribe and tungsten (the norway city forgot name) can be.

I conquered Friese and it was nice. No one ever attacked it. It gave me plenty of money and with all the villages having high relations it gave me decent cavalry, fairly high level spearmen, and of course plenty of Norse Spearmen too.

Alban is also nice. More spread out, but isolated. Also nice because when you want to expand at the South end is the three towns Eidynburh, Dun Breatann, and Cell Rigmonaid. This allows you to base ships on both sides and makes a great area for a later game capital from where you can reach out and touch anyone.
