Which Empire Faction?

Those that sided with the Empire, which faction did you choose and why?

In my current campaign I started my own imperial faction because clearly the player character is the only one capable of leading the Calradian Empire, but I probably would've have gone with Northern just because the King has a nice sounding name, Lucon. Although maybe the Southern Empire would be smarter since they're currently the only ones still alive and have conquered over half the map at the current moment.

Southern empire because once I was ready to graduate from killing bandits I wanted to work as a mercenary so I just joined the nearest faction as a merc but after 130+ days I realized the contract never expires and if I try to end it myself I get the dialogue options for ending vassalage along with all the same penalties as ending vassalage with everyone in the kingdom hating me.

So I said well I guess I may as well be a vassal now since mercenary contracts don't seem to actually exist.
