Which cpu recommanded for heavy battles (1440p/max settings)

Hi

I currently have a R5 3600X Cpu and it performs quite bad on heavy battles like 600 vs 600.

Fps are good (30/45fps) as far as you don't go to close to the "melee zone" where you encounter big fps drops(5/10 fps). It makes it impossible to fight in this zone which is too bad (because most thrilling place).
This problem also happens among particular scenery element (like battles on bridges, where density of soldiers is very high)

If i go for a 3700x, will it be a good enhancement for my fps rate in these kinds of heavy battles?

Will it be more playable? In which proportions?

Thanks a lot !

Ps: i ve got a Rtx 2080 Super

The more cores the better since apparently bannerlord is focused on using as many as possible, so probably a ryzen 9 3900x (since you have an rtx2080 Super i assume you wont have problems buying one  ) but even then you might have issues, the game in its current EA state has loads of optimization to be done and even people with very good rigs sometimes have issues.
By the way maybe stick to the 1000 units cap since for now that's the max the devs intended.

Depends on how many cores can be used by this game. Honestly just go for a 9700K and and overclock it.

Thanks for replies.

Considering the game is very CPU greedy, i should have a nice improvement if i go on the 3700x rather than the 3600x?

Is 9700k really better than 3700x?

Thx

before dropping a large amount of money of hard ware isn't it worth considering that it's not fully optimized yet and will get better by release ? Also have you tried turning the shadows from dynamic to static? I notice a big improvement turning the shadows off of every individual unit.

Thx for your advice, i'm gonna try it tomorrow.

R7 3700x is a easy improvement for me because i can sell the 3600x at good price... Do we have good feedbacks about 3700x in Bannerlord?

yeap, there are memory leaks, performance issues, sound issues killing threads, bugs, ... kind early to decide which CPU rules them all for Bannerlord. Waiting a few months would be best. Unless money is not a issue and the player can just buy another one by Xmas. Then go for it. Make a monster machine and mod the battle size for 2000 units

Actually the investment for me would be near 160 euros (310 euros for buying 3700x and 150 euros collected from the selling of my 3600x) so no need to fantasize on huge amounts of money...

Resolution doesn't matter for the CPU. Not sure how many cores it CAN use but on my 3600 it's bottlenecked by the main core and during large (approaching 1000 troops) siege battles it's being bottlenecked by the main core running at about 3950 mhz

So I'd focus on core performance first, rather than the number of cores.

3900x doesn't really yield that much more than a 3700x not worth the money if you look at what you gain from a 3900x vs a 3700x.

Right now the game doesn't care because my frame rate has died completely since the last patch.... and I've got a top tier pc.

Well 9700k is better with games that dont use more then 4 cores (most games dont) + they are highly overclockable. But if its correct this game will use as many cores as it can get its hands on, amd is better for this game.

My System:

GPU: Radeon RX 580
CPU: AMD FX 6100 Bulldozer Edition (6 Cores)
RAM: Upgraded from 8 GB to 12 GB

I know my CPU is old as f***, but in Bannerlord custom battles wit hundred of troops it works fine. o_O But in campaign if I get close to the Melee Combat Zone it lags and stutter heavily. :/

Keep in mind that not all battle maps generated from the campaign are well optimized. Some snow maps seem to have a shadow flickering issue causing massive frame drops to as low as 10 fps.

Try doing a 500 vs 500 custom battle. Those maps have been tested and should be more optimized. I have an I7 8700 non-k and fps goes around mid 50s and drops to low 40s in combat.
