Where to start your own kingdom?

If I'm not mistaken, Grunwaldr Castle is one of the most annoying to siege, just due to map design. You have to run up a sharply sloped hill (usually very slowly!) and then you get caught in a chokepoint-ladder-o'-death. It's why I like it.

It's just for me, but I capture Rivacheg first.  Just 'cause of the extra storage chest.

In my game I'm thinking the same, but here's my situation...

I already helped the Vaeger claimant, so I want to be the Vaeger's friends.
I want to help the Sarriand claimant, so I can be their friends.

With Vaegers, I want to eliminate the Nords and take their lands.
With Sarriands, I want to eliminate Khergits, and take their lands.

So that leaves for my start the land of Rhodoks and Swadians.
I don't care about the Swadians, and they are relatively easy for me, but the Rhodoks seem like nice guys and are old time rebels of the Swadians.

Regardless, that leaves the Rhodok and Swadian lands for me hopefully. Sadly, it is my least favorite piece of land and style of buildings

I've captured castles from a faction and still joined it with no problems.  Hell, I've captured castles from the king himself, and then sworn allegiance and all was forgiven!

Y'know, if I ever take that castle, I think I will make Lezalit my vassal and give it him.  Then I will pack the place with nothing but farmers, bandits and vaegir recruits... and watch his head explode.

I usually take far away castles like Chalbek Castle, Jamiche Castle, Jameyyed Castle and Nelag castle. And towns I take Khudan, Dhirim, Baryiee and Wercheg. Why? Because the army needs a long time to travel to these locations. And in most of the time, 1/4 of the army will get disbanned.
