Where is the coastal assault feature?

Well, when reading the VC features:

Coastal assault! You can lead your boat or your fleet in rapid assaults from the sea.

And I have to ask. What does this means? When I bought the game I thought this was talking to raid villages or to attack land parties from the sea. But when playing the DLC it seems like nothing of this is implemented.

So... this is just referred to... siege coastal towns from the sea? Or is there something I'm missing?

Currently you can only coastal assault port cities. You're going to want a fleet for that as city garrisons tend to be 200-600 men.

Many of us have requested being able to do so to towns as seen in the story campaign. Hopefully that will be added in the future. (Along with a peasant militia to defend them)

Well, that feature, as it is written, confused me. Why it says "rapid assaults"?? A siege it's not rapid at all...

Because compared to a siege it requires zero prep time. i can storm a city from sea and seize it in an instant. Even with engineering at 10 i still have to spend 12-24 hours preparing ladders and mantlets sieging from land.

instead of having several hundred men surround a town and dig in for at least a day and 2-3 you basically seize the town in an instant.

How do you stear your ship?

It should be the same as when you're on the open sea. Arrow keys for direction and rowing-speed, enter to set the sail, backspace for overhead view.
