Where is all the high tier armour? And item modifiers?

Maybe I am missing something, but after about three years of game, in shops I encounter the same armour & weapons as at the beginning. I have relatively a lot of money, but there is no way to spend them — if I want better gear. The best body armour I can get now is imperial lamellar armour that costs less then seven thousand.

Also, I haven’t noticed armour & weapon modifiers yet. In Warband I really loved how the quality of one particular item could differ. So this is one of mechanics that I really miss.

I am also dissapointed a bit by tournament’s prizes. It’s all excellent concept, but there could be bigger variability — I win the same items over and over again.

I would like to craft it, I have spent some time doing that, I feel like the economy is off, the end product is always worth less than the goods going in, that's fine if I am making something for myself, but kind of meh if you want to be a smith.

If we have modified our files to make them appear, will the fix you apply break our games or simply just overwrite the files we've modified?

Keep a backup of the files you modify and copy them back in before you download the patch, probably easiest solution to be sure it wont break.

You can also just use the "verify game files" thingy on steam to restore game files to original.
